appears to be an enthusiastic vintage synth geek who wants to establish soundscapes between Psy and Techno.

Garbfunkula - Psy 92 (Schott Remix)

LOLA KAY
After 2 entries in previous HoS compilations, Belarus artist Lola Kay (she/her) is starting off this VA forging ahead with a track showcasing the wide range of her production style. Traveling through genres with an unapologetic flowy energy, she brings us with DJ Dream into an upbeat trance journey full of modulated synths floating in space while the driving percussions centers us and grounds our boots. Layers of delicate pads and diaphanous melodic arpeggios are playing with dense and tense distorted basslines and gimmicks, playing on the fluidity of the dreamstate.

LA FRAICHEUR
Joining the VA is House of (S)PUNK founder and label head La Fraicheur (she/her), with the Hard Dance track titled Access Memory, showing the more light-hearted side of her signature sound. As usual she’s coloring outside the lines, mixing distorted raging Punk Acid gimmicks, Oizo-type French 00’s electro basslines, cheerful cheeky heady stabs, galactic sound design and Housey pumpy vocals to bring it home. It feels like the pandemic with her new HoS family, spent in Catalan sunny raves fueled with the fun-loving carefree NeoRave sound has made its mark on her.

ETL
New addition to the House of (S)PUNK family, Argentinian ETL (he/him) created Bumpy specifically with us and our love for Hard Dance in mind and it shows! Fast-paced with an impeccable forward-moving groove hammered down by a vicious snare, the track is spiralling around intoxicating ever changing stuttering undulating stabs moving the track into a breathless whirlpool bouncing back and forth between Hard Style and Trance.

VALAV
Also joining the fold is Barcelona-based artist ValaV (he/him) hailing from Venezuela via Ecuador and his witchy track Eonia, a classic techno cut immersed in organic percussion sounds inspired by his caribbean heritage, moody pads and ghostly voices echoing around as if we were part of a queer dance ritual in a submerged hidden jungle cavern, the bats flying in the reverb.

GLXGLS
Closing this compilation is an elegant electronica-ambient piece made with granular synthesis from another newcomer, glxgls (she/he/they). With Cançó Sense Nom, glxgls carries us into their slow-building melancholic reverie where conflicting feelings of sadness and hope are billowing in a strange fragile dance like a sonic murmuration of heartfelt drone sounds.
