Cool scenario, and kudos to the astronomers who helped think through this scenario.  But maybe talk to an ecologist, too.  Much brighter nights could seriously alter predator-prey dynamics in the thousands of nocturnal species, not to mention possibly increased photosynthesis rates in plants.  Disruptions to ecosystems could kill us off much more quickly than the 10s of thousands of years for a collision.  Cheers!
