Originally released on the R&S Records sub-label Global Cuts in 1993, ‘20HZ’ by Capricorn became the breakthrough track for its creator Hans Weekhout, a Dutch multi-instrumentalist who started his career recording and mixing for international artists such as Falco and Ian Gillan.

With its memorable combination of those rolling and thunderous marching drums, glacial marimba-like melodies and a tense, trance inducing atmosphere, ‘20HZ’ has become one of dance music’s most enduring tracks.  Hitting the singles charts in Holland, Belgium, UK and France on release, and still being played week in and week out across clubs and festivals thirty years later, it’s fair to say that Capricorn’s snare drum driven hit can be classed as a bone fide classic.

To commemorate the 30th anniversary of this behemoth anthem, R&S Records have enlisted an eclectic line-up of artists to add their own touches to a suite of remixes. Dutch composer and Apollo Records artist Andert Tysma reshapes ‘20HZ’ into a sublime ambient piece, accompanied by some tender piano work and soaring strings, whilst Italian DJ/producer Marco Lys stays true to the original, deploying a fresh and modern take and aiming it squarely at the dancefloor.

London based producer Vromm has a penchant for the UK bass and beats culture that has influenced him since the late 1980s, and his remix of ‘20HZ’ really spins the original upside down, deconstructing and rebuilding over granite hard beats.  And it’s left to legendary DJ Carl Cox to round off this broad remix package.  As a DJ who helped break this record on its original release, it’s befitting that the global dance icon puts his stamp firmly onto it, jacking up the drums and turning up a big room monster version, ‘oh yes, oh yes’!

Stepping in with her debut iteration for Stil vor Talent, Berliner DJ and producer Anna Almani teams up with vocalist Kotoe to deliver a fun and bouncy slab of true party material with 'Parental Advisory'. Featuring fellow Ibiza via Berlin-based artist Elisa Elisa on remix duty, this maiden single treats us to a tribal-minded fanfare of fevered Afro-funk'y drums and minimal techno tropes, stretching out into acidic electro and repurposed EBM rhythms. Based upon Kotoe's own experience, the track evokes "the journey of discovery of your inner self without your parents' interference". Whilst the original mix serves up a prog-friendly buildup flush with playful plot-twists and catchy cliff-hangers, gaining further momentum as the particles of the track seem to break up and merge again through intense breaks and equally massive drops, Elisa Elisa's revamp beckons us on the path of trancey batucada mischief and proto-technoid grooviness with unrestrained exultation and a true stamina-testing swing. Breaking into the adult life has never been so fun.

Progressive Sunset Session - Melodic Trance Mix.
On this set, I wanted to do a more Melodic trance vibe.  Growing up in the 90's I love the sound of Balearic trance, and on this mix I've added two 90's classic trance tracks in the mix, Beachball by Nalin & Kane and I end the mix with the all time classic Seven Cites by Solarstone.  Also included in this mix are tracks by Cosmic Gate, Tall Paul, Daniella Bjarnhoff and More
