Zion

Precious Love

This London-dwelling Brazilian native from São Paulo was always keen to showcase his voice by releasing an album filled with tracks that reflected his distinct style.
 
Like many other artists before him, he honed his vocal talents singing in a Gospel choir as a child. His love of Gospel music never left him and any track choice he would make for his first CD release would always carry the hallmark of his church roots.
 
‘Higher’ was released in August 2011 and was a testament to Flavio Cortes’ ability to choose music that not only matched his honeyed voice, but that also resonated with his soul. Channelling his passion, he produced an album of seven carefully chosen tracks. Inspired by singers/songwriters such as Mariah Carey, Heather Headley and Josh Groban as a mark of excellence, Flavio Cortes recorded the album and filled it with tracks such as 'Music Box' and 'Looking In' (both co-written and performed by Mariah Carey) and 'The Lord's Prayer' by Albert Hay Malotte.
 
American R&B/Soul and Grammy award winner singer Heather Headley’s track ‘Zion’ is effortlessly covered and has received a nod of approval from the lady herself.
 
Flavio Cortes has a love and belief in the power of Gospel music. His ‘Johnny Mathis’ style of delivery fits beautifully with tracks such as ‘My Beloved’ and ‘When I Speak Your Name'. As one reviewer says “He sings like an angel”. And this is a compliment he hears often.
