I did not hear this at the party, I would have gone crazy!

This is a blend by blend re-recording of my set from Big Moon 2024, a rainy end-of-Summer romp at an old Summer camp in the area once dubbed the “American Alps” by marketers.  
The event organized by some of my best friends in the scene. It featured an impressively high concept chill room freakout room, a  sound system hand built by my day one Bellingham homie, Xander (dj_oily), and perhaps most notably for a renegade party: actual functioning bathrooms, the kind with plumbing and fans.  
I was invited to play a peak-time set by one of my favorite peak-time DJs in the scene, Eve Defy, so naturally I wanted to show out. Xander played before me, and having bonded over our love of hardgroove many times before, I knew how I’d start off the set.   On the other end of the tempo spectrum, the midtempo 100bpm zone really speaks to me production-wise, and probably 80% of the tracks I’ve finished this year have been in that range and I wanted to figure out an excuse to play them out. Conveniently when I touched base with Mimi Zima, who played after me, where she’d like to start, she, unprompted said “around 100bpm”.  In between, I decided to try the ol’ 170->85 trick and slowly build up the tempo and energy from fun to dangerous and then ease back into the slower, sexier, midtempo zone to let people breathe. I got mixed reviews on whether or not I went too hard, but everyone seemed to be having fun.   I can’t thank everyone involved enough for giving me the chance to play a set like this. After the lodge last year I was itching for a Summer project set to really put some work into and I’m very proud of how this one turned out. Soooooo much fun, see you all next year!
