Dario Dell’Aere is a New Wave musician, producer and singer from Milan, Italy. At the end of the 1970’s Dario performed in a mime show influenced by the glam cliches of David Bowie. In 1979, he met Victor Life outside a cinema, and began a lifelong collaboration of projects: Diamond Dogs, Ice Eyes and Fockewulf 190. Musically, the duo were inspired by the Human League’s “Reproduction” and John Foxx’s “Metamatic”, while they took visual cues from the New Romantics Visage and Ultravox. With the Fockewulf 190 moniker, they created their own dark blend of Italo disco and New Wave, and released the hit singles “Gitano” and “Body Heat” in 1984. At the end of 1984, the duo took a break, and Dario went into the studio to record his debut solo single. “Eagles In The Night” was released in 1985 on Market Record, and is one of the most coveted Italo Disco 12”s,. Clocking in at over 8-minutes, the song features xylophone-esque synth hooks and Dario’s powerful, booming vocals. Dario sings of a spirit that flies on high, searching for a partner in true love. Backing vocals were provided by Dario’s sister, Nora Dell’Aere. On the B-side is a shorter instrumental version with the occasional “oh wacky co-co” from Dario. The sleeve is an exact replica of the original 1985 edition, which features a black and white drawing by Dario’s wife, Tiziana Dell’Aere.

Making a living as an artist is a struggle in most parts of the world. It seems to be the borderless conundrum of having a passion for art and a fever to create. One perk of the job though, is that no matter where you go, you're bound to find family. No matter the city, around the bend of every club or bar there seems a familiar face. Odd Oswald was one of those blasts from the past that we found ourselves reunited with in our travels this past year. At one time a celebrated San Francisco disc-jockey and promoter -- Odd O aka Brian B stepped into the smoke of the European music scene and never looked back.  Busy behind the curtain as a label/tour manager for big name acts, we knew that his new found perspective could only have added to his already killer approach to digging and mixing. So, to show an old friend some new tricks, Odd made us this mix - his last one for us was back in 2012(http://bit.ly/2m1NoHv). The penchant for dark and filthy sonics that made his bay area sets such a delight are still present in this 2hr acidic rave-jog - but these selections are razor sharp, preposterously programmed, and grab you harder then the punch of an epi-pen.

Diynamic's Lehar offers his take on the Khen and Guy J collabo ‘Prism’, turning down the intensity of the original with a sophisticated touch, he leads the track to deeper waters with an infectious melody that marries the familiar underlying key elements of the original in perfect symbiosis.

The sonic voyage continues with Luca Bachetti’s groovish take on ‘Authentica’. Adding to the recognisable lead melody, he gives the track an almost cinematic and atmospheric treatment that leaves you longing for more.

Patrice Baumel, fresh from the success of his recent remix of Cubicolor, tackles ‘Land of Goshen’. Taking the track in a more driving and pumping direction with a nod to 90s classic Trance, this track will cause a stir in sets from dusk to dawn.

Closing the collection on a trippy vibe with hints of old school Acid and an uncanny detailed soundscape that will leave you in awe, is Termoment’s take on ‘One Day of Independence’. A beautiful and fitting finalé to this weighty package of reworks.

Flemming Dalum, also know as King of the cut, discovered his musical journey at an early age. An interest based out of curiosity for electronic synthesizer legends emerging while he grew up. With his first synth, the Korg Polysix, a lifelong passion was born. He started playing in bands in 1982, experimenting with electronics and the new world of sounds and possibilities. At the same time he started experimenting with records and discovered a natural talent for mixing and blending synths with records, creating his own unique world of sound. In mind that the CD wasn't invented, neither was the HD recorder, the heart in Flemmings set-up was a simple cassette recorder. An invention that should soon add yet another angle to his musical universe. With snappy skills and imagination, the cassette soon became his most important instrument taking him to the next level. The world of mixing. With sampler, echomachine, decks, synths and a beloved cassette recorder, the first true mixes came out of his studio already in 1983. Mixes with so much detail, soon giving him the legendary name "King of the cut". In the same year, 1983, Flemming stumbled across Koto "Chinese Revenge", a discovery that should soon lead Flemming into a brave new world matching his own, with synths and electronics being the heart of the music. The passion became strong and shortly after the Koto discovery, brought him to his first trip to Milan, Il Discotto, Discomagic, Non-Stop, Merak etc. to investigate the Italo phenomenon in detail. The following years Flemming visited the Italian distributors 11 times which later proves to be one of the major reasons to the fact that he has one of the worlds most complete collections of Italo and Disco. Through the years, the synths has been replaced with computers and equipment matching the urge for mixing. Something that has kept the true Italo spirit alive and made Flemming Dalum a legend in mixing today.
