This song is a seting of (a version of) the poem "The Life that I Have" by Leo Marks.  This poem was written for Violette Szabo, a Special Operations Executive operative, operating in France during World War II.  Violette Szabo was captured, interrogated and ultimately killed on or before 23rd February 1945 at Ravensbruck.
