New French imprint Bait is a label focused on the cross over of two spheres: snare heavy bass-music and immersive mental techno. The outcome is technoïd-dubstep that is psychedelic, minimal, contemplative and at the same time calls for gun fingers and backspins.

The label's 4th release, 'In the Dark', is an EP by Ambit, an Irish producer and DJ whose dubstep and drum & bass releases have been energetic and dark, notably on Woozy label (Dublin).

This release is made up of 3 tracks, the title track 'In the Dark', a second track 'Run', and a remix of 'Run' by Parisian 140 boss Argo himself. 'In the Dark' lives up to its name, offering percussive halftime sounds with undulating basses, dark vocals and a generally abysmal ambience. Argo's remix flirts with techno and dubstep traits, creating an elegant yet chaotic jerky rhythm.

To celebrate the release, Bait is inviting the Woozy label for a collab party at Point Ephémère in Paris on January 27th 2024.

Ambit - In The Dark

The Brvtalist Is pleased to premiere a new track by ASSASSUN, the one-man synthpunk project by Alexander Donat. Drawing inspiration from the depths of his resignations and inner demons, ASSASSUN's music serves as a somber statement of self-therapy, with moments where he fervently spits out words to cleanse his soul, as noted by Ox-Fanzine (Ger). 

On his third album, "Post-Climax," ASSASSUN ventures further into his sonic exploration. Donat channels his frustrations with the world, delivering cynicism amidst strangely calming, synthetic soundscapes punctuated by cold beats and dystopic arpeggios. The release features ten tracks that prioritize rap over darkwave and ambient over industrial, yet seamlessly integrate these diverse elements into a cohesive whole.

RAIN: With roots in vinyl DJing since the late 90s, growing up performing live under the alias Mental
Distortion and playing as an electronic part of ethno-electronic band Kamennoe More, Rain formed a
signature style of mixing which are characterized by frequent changes, rhythmic variety and a fusion
of musical genres that epitomizes the breadth of techno. From classic 4x4, hard and offbeat
subgenres of techno to industrial, IDM and heavy electronics, all is woven together in his sets in a
narrative that is as intricate as it is captivating. Beyond the artistic realm, Rain&#39;s works exhibit
technical prowess. Using only two sound sources, he mixes 50 and even 60 tracks per hour, skillfully
embellishing them with FXs. Some of his sets also incorporate tempo experimentation, fluctuating
between 80 and 180 BPM. Fasten your seat belts. This is «Мodern apocalyptic techno not for the faint
of heart».

in 2023, herman klapholz (AH CAMA-SOTZ) and gwenn trémorin (FLINT GLASS) reconvene with a shared vision: to coalesce their talents in the creation of a joint album. their collaboration finds its genesis in a mutual fascination with ritual and tribal soundtrack, sparked by contemplations on the present predicament of indigenous amerindian peoples spanning from the northern reaches of canada to the pristine depths of the amazonian rainforests. 

the rich diversity of natural landscapes across the american continents has generated an array of diverse cultures, each bearing its unique imprint upon the fabric of human history. through their collaborative endeavor, the two musicians draw inspiration from this mosaic of indigenous communities and endeavor to pay tribute to the resilience and cultural heritage of these marginalized populations, while also exploring their unique perspectives on mortality and the afterlife. 

in the spiritual cosmologies of many indigenous tribes, death is not an end but a transition, marking the passage of the soul into an eternal realm where ancestral spirits dwell. for some, death is not feared but embraced as a natural part of existence, with the departed finding solace in a spirit world (wakan tanka) free from the burdens of earthly suffering. 

in essence, WAKAN TANKA album is a testament to the enduring spirit of indigenous peoples, celebrating their profound connection to the cycles of life and death, and the resilience of their cultural traditions in the face of adversity.
