And now for some even more lush listening music to spend the night to by 1/2 of French duo Dusty Corners, Hoel. Hoel makes his solo debut appearance with this lustrous collection of dubby, groovy house tracks topped with layers of twitchy vocal samples, drowsy synths and warm atmospherics that would put any aphrodisiac-infused bath to shame. 

Hoel uses his space generously and intuitively succeeds in balancing out the numerous sonic stimuli, creating a theatrical if not movie-like backdrop to all the sleep-blurred sounds he employs. The tracks progress like in a concert, chemically reshaping their sounds into similar new ones, flowing into each other. While 'Blush' is the standout track of the EP, the other 5 sustain it with elegance and precision. 

The whole EP is a pleasure to listen to and at times it feels like a performance in a postmodern theatre rather than music you would expect in a club environment.

Following up from the success of his emphatic PAN releases ‘Dutch Tvashar Plumes’ and ‘Diversions 1994-1996’ in 2012, we are excited to announce ‘KOCH’ (pronounced “cotch”), the new album from London’s Lee Gamble.

Sharing some stylistic affinity with his previous records, which excavated his deeply personal history with UK jungle and rave, and techno, this new work dives even deeper to reveal a singu- lar and intimate musical vantage point, shifting to approaching music as projection, state, hallucination, an other place. In ‘KOCH’, we experience an artist constructing a future after time spent deconstructing the past.

In the music we witness such dimensional abstraction, zooming between epic macro scenery and claustrophobically close detail, disorientation and absolute focus. Rhythms fuse together and phase apart, club tracks tunnel into an anxious wilderness, with themes and textures emerging as threads throughout the record, wormholing between each track.
There is a sense of the seen and the unseen, an honest tension between music as function (for this world) and as artistic exploration (for another world) as cracks in the surface appear to reveal the odd and alien minutiae within.
‘KOCH’ represents an intimate and revelatory new phase in Lee Gamble’s practice. Producing tracks that can live and grow on their own in a club or personal listening environment, the artist’s exploratory framework creates threads of consistency and tension between disparate spaces, locations, and mental states.

The LP is mastered and cut at D&M, with artwork by Bill Kouligas.

Meda Fury welcome OL from Moscow, Russia. Following many varied contributions for labels such as Faces, Fine Grains, Phonica and Capital Bass. 
Lum Edit barges in sirens blaring, banging out machine like kick, hats and toms. The heaviest raw funk bassline is unleashed, and lumbers amongst Rap TV show samples and gunshots. Industrial gangster house. 
Around has a broken, jazzy Detroit feel. Sparing R&B vocal samples and afrocentric percussion ride the wah-wah and heavy bass guitar. 
Rimms comes straight out of leftfield, cutting edge drum machines rubbing up against Baltic art-rock samples. Its a strange claustrophobic affair with ghostly vocals. East European dancefloor paranoia. 
Myxa breaks the tension wide open, building a coiled spring of whistle-like riffs. R&B vocal snippets hype it up further before snapping and spilling its own elastic sub-bass. Fine feelgood ghetto-house action. 
Podumay's glitchy raw drums stomp forward towards all kinds of unknown sci-fi sounds and Kraut synth backgrounds. The contrast is a Detroit soul bassline and house percussion. 
Melt Down brings the tempo and mood way down to a mysterious close. The echoing sound of water and eerie isolationist synth washes recalling BOC. The beat is straight current-day Hip-Hop, tight snares rolling over dangerously low Miami-strength bass. Game over.

With his sophomore album ‘Ghost People’ appearing on 2010‘s end of the year charts for the likes of Mixmag (# 6), Clash Magazine (#9), DJ Magazine (#9), Data Transmission (‘Album of the Year’), Martyn returns to Brainfeeder to release a follow-up 12” this March.

 The 12” leads with ‘Hello Darkness,’ previously unreleased and exclusive to the 12”, Martyn shuffles through a rhythmic bassline and feeling of, indeed, darkness from the very first beat. In typical Martyn fashion, the track skips its way through genre conventions, landing in a flux between 2-step, driving techno and old rave (the latter specifically heard in his ethereal and scaling upper melodies). ‘Hello Darkness’ could lend itself to the rawest, grittiest warehouse, yet simultaneously breeds a subtle feeling of elation and release, and keeps the listener guessing with a variety of quirky sound collages.

It also features a remix of ‘Bauplan,’ Night Slugs bosses L-Vis 1990 and Bok Bok bring the most sinister corners of London into their remix, with a heavy grime lean and a pervading feeling of tension. Erratic samples (sounds of a tweeting bird one moment, the cocking of a gun the next) appear in-between a snap beat, metallic stabs and an apocalyptic build-up of percussion and synths. Pulsing in and out of a highly volatile atmosphere, almost as if the track is alive and breathing, this ‘Bauplan’ almost feels like an unrelated beast until Martyn’s melody lines start to unfold halfway through the track.
 

To finish there is an exclusive remix of ‘We Are You In The Future,’ a favourite from the ‘Ghost People’ LP amongst critics and DJs across the board. Techno’s notorious man in the red mask - Redshape - steps up to create a deep and dark Detroit interpretation of Martyn’s freewheeling, sci-fi-enhanced joyride. Laced with ominous vocal samples (“It may be an accidental side effect of the drug”), the future takes on a slightly more dystopian feel with Redshape’s melancholic strings, unpredictable percussion builds and a lingering, creeping reinterpretation of the track’s original melodies. A definitive nod to the epic work of Derrick May and Carl Craig, with a hint of Kenny Larkin’s intricate builds.
