On this fourth Thursday of November, you might ask yourself: do Indians celebrate Thanksgiving? Well… Thanksgiving is a complicated holiday for Native people. In a way, each day is a day of thanksgiving to the Creator for the original people of Turtle Island. This doesn't mean that we don't enjoy turkey, pie and family as much as the next person, but at the same time the Thanksgiving myth largely shared in mainstream culture perpetuates a one sided view of a complicated history surrounding this holiday. Celebrating their seventh birthday this December, Huntleys + Palmers is a club series and record label that never strays far from the Truants radar. Moving between Glasgow and London, and headed up by Andrew Thomson, it has slowly become a cult institution, bringing the most interesting strains of electronic music to the fore. Their afrofuturist Highlife parties, set-up with regular H&P affiliate Auntie Flo, have been described by Auntie Flo himself as a challenge to ‘the Western-centic perspective on electronic music’. Huntleys + Palmers excel in the changing the focus across their main club series as well with a booking policy that's both refreshingly challenging and diverse, whether they're hosting Thursday night proceedings at Shoreditch's Plastic People, or venturing further afield to other venues and cities. The fact that they were early champions of PC Music’s SOPHIE (whether you’re a fan or not) speaks to how daring Huntleys + Palmers are, never afraid to put their money where the emerging talent is. This strong sense of identity has earned them the respect of other labels and some of the most widely respected selectors: Kompakt cite how essential Huntleys + Palmers is for such a young label, Jackmaster claimed that they're his current favourite, and both Jackmaster and Joy O featured forthcoming H+P material in their recent Beats In Space mixes. The label also recently announced a new monthly show on Rinse. With all that said, we're delighted that label head Andrew Thomson has provided the 106th Truancy Volume.

Indian-born Nathan Menon aka Monsoonsiren's music is dreamy to say the least. His downtempo R&B influenced vocal jams draw inspiration from the darker corners of life, with each emotive track tangibly telling a story, which is probably why we fell in love with him so fast. Taken from his forthcoming Falstrati EP (released 20th Jan via Project: Mooncircle), press play on the emotive sound of Sullen Fables.

Une ambiance conviviale que l’on retrouve tout au long de la compilation avec le morceau disco-club «On Disco Street feat. The Woodhead» de Prosper & Adam Polo, les synthétiseurs analogiques de Leonard De Leonard sur «Do You Get More», les guitares de Lemon Peel sur le titre «Love Love», sans oublier la participation de Frederic de Carvalho au projet avec «To- Get-Her», Loïs Plugged & Fruckie avec «Cntrl On», ni le dancefloor avec «Urban Bug» de Gooseflesh et les productions entêtantes de Nicolas Cuer & Sebastien Bayle.

Lux Montes» by Sovnger to the effective «Shoe Shining» by Spaam, through the melodic «Encelade» by Adrarion, the groovy tech-house «Game Code» from the Aert Prog project, the compilation is presenting the works from artists already signed on the label with other discoveries.
A friendly atmosphere that we found throughout the compilation with the disco-club track «On Disco Street feat. The Woodhead» by Prosper & Adam Polo, the analog synthesizers by Leonard de Leonard on «Do You Get More», the guitars by Lemon Peel on the title «Love Love», not forgetting the participation of Frederic De Carvalho to the project with «To-Get-Her», Loïs Plugged & Fruckie with «Cntrl On», neither the dancefloor with «Urban Bug» by Gooseflesh and the heady productions by Nicolas Cuer & Sebastien Bayle.
