Sick beats and mind-bending rhymes aren’t the only things working in Flomoji’s favor. Having rocked more than their fair share of mics, this Denver duo know what it takes to get any crowd moving.

Flomoji previously performed under the moniker Gangstaz on Acid before rebranding to reflect a more positive shift in their music. When they take the stage it’s obvious they didn’t sacrifice their collective two decades of experience, however. Between confetti cannons, cryo guns, live drums and off-the-wall costumes, they come well equipped to turn each show into a spectacle.

In addition to honing in on a sound that has been described as “Excision meets Diplo,” Flomoji possess a way with words that touches the hearts and souls of their audiences. Be it happiness, sadness or any shade in between, each verse evokes a separate emotion. When combined with their larger-than-life stage presence, their skill as songwriters renders them a force of entertainment to be reckoned with.

Flomoji are Jesse Baiotto and Jeremiah Castillo, two Denver natives practically destined for the music business from birth.

Baiotto grew up in rough areas in and around the Mile High City, but his father worked in concert production. As a child he was brought onstage at a Metallica show to play drums alongside Lars Ulrich during one of the band’s Montana dates, ensuring his lifelong passion for music of all genres.

Castillo grew up in Denver’s Northside and was exposed to hip-hop culture from an early age. He learned from his family members’ example to avoid gangs and focus instead on b-boying and emceeing. As two of his rapper cousins had signed to Thump Records, he was fortunate to have influences swaying him in the latter direction.

After working together previously, Baiotto and Castillo launched the Gangstaz on Acid (GOA) in 2010 to fuse their shared passion for EDM and hip-hop. With Baiotto and Castillo in the studio, various DJs on the decks, and both artists spitting verses, the act quickly emerged as a staple of the Denver party scene.

Following their first self-titled mixtape of the same year, GOA racked up gigs at such venues as Beta Nightclub, Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom, Rockstar Lounge and Casselman’s Bar and Venue in the years that they operated under the stage name. They also played such Colorado gatherings as Global Dance Festival and Sonic Bloom in addition to South by Southwest in Austin, Texas. To date, they have opened up for such artists as Figure, Adventure Club, Minnesota, Wiz Khalifa, Snow Tha Product, Yelawolf, Do Or Die and Twista.

Meanwhile, GOA didn’t slack on releases by any means. They followed up their self-titled mixtape with another that went by The Shit Show in 2012 before releasing a studio-length album called Electronic Gutta Music in 2015.

Following their rebrand as Flomoji, Baiotto and Castillo unveiled a series of definitive singles. During the 2017 festival season they released the tropical house-inspired “Summer Vibes” before striking back with a bass-heavy single titled “The Red Witch” (which featured an audio sample from Game of Thrones). Before the year drew to a close they continued to build momentum with “Dream Snatchers,” an indie dance-infused motivational anthem about pursuing your ambitions.

They then kicked off 2018 with “LVRGHT,” a love song which served as an example of the duo’s more sentimental musings. They showcased yet another manifestation of their diverse stylings shortly thereafter with “Pick It Up,” a song meant to discourage self-harm by lifting up any listener going through hard times. In October they followed it up with a debut album under the alias titled The Good, The Sad and the Dirty.
