You ever have an idea that won't leave your head until you finish it, no matter how dumb it is? And have you ever given yourself a deadline to finish it it by?

ＳＯＮＩＣＷＡＶＥ ＳＡＭＰＬＥＲ ＰＡＣＫ ２０１７ is an exploration of a now-classic game soundtrack, sampling dialogue and level music in order to change the flavour of existing music. Out of the six playable characters of Sonic Adventure 2, each one has a level represented in song.

Is it a facile attempt to ape the style of vaporwave? Yes. Is this me attempting to capture the chill grooves of my Dry Lagoon take from two months ago and failing because no other song is as good for it? Y-Yes. Is this largely the work of a talented set of musicians who aren't me? Also yes. I claim very little of this as my own - barely even the arrangements where I do mess with the song structures.

Not all SONICWAVE songs are created equal. Some are arguably better listening than others, and some fit the vaporwave audio aesthetic better than others. Some experiments in dialogue sampling are funnier than others, or edgier, or outright stranger. Or lewder. Some characters had a set of levels themes more ripe for SONICWAVE-ing than others - hence why three bonus tracks were created that showcase different sounds than what fit into the project's main tracklist. They just emerged from failed experiments that produced entertaining sounds.

All disclaimers aside, perhaps this might shed more light on a lovely soundtrack for a game that, while not perfect, is nevertheless a very important part of my artistic AESTHETIC to this day. Perhaps it will inspire. Perhaps it won't. It's done. I can put it behind me.

[SA:G] LIVENLOVANIA [Our Take]

I decided to try and create some Chiptune inspired tracks, as an exercise in MIDI production. There's a whole lot of them, so I figured I'd dice up a collection and upload is for listenage.

These tracks draw influence from the soundtracks of the early Megaman series, early Pokemon, assorted arcade titles and most other things which were created under the 4 channel restrictions of early game music development.
Each track was designed with the intention of being implemented into a sci-fi based platformer. Y'know, evil robots, creepy digital phantoms, big dudes with a nuclear reactor on their back, gravity inverters, voidweavers, all that nice stuff.

Anyway, each track has a designated name so that they're not just referred to as "untitled 1, untitled 2, untitled 35, untitled 35B."
