Fabrizio Lapiana [Only Vinyl] joins for DifferentSound Podcast #115.

Fabrizio Lapiana is an italian DJ, producer and a founder of Attic Music, based in Rome. He started his career as a Dj back in 1994, influenced mainly by the early 90's sound of Rome and Detroit as well by the first european pioneers of electronic music. In his DJ sets, Fabrizio makes a precise and intimate techno flow that seduces the dancefloor mixing new and old vinyls range from deep, intricate techno, through an acid and groovy darkness with some melodic gems along the way. With his label “Attic Music”, founded in 2008, Fabrizio grow up his sound combining deep aesthetics and techno grooves often allowing ambient or industrial elements. To remember also the strong collaboration with Max_M on his M_Rec 10'' series in 2014, that showed his most emotional view of techno. His performances in Rome as well in some of the finest wordwide clubs are a way to offer his right vibrations in the techno scene in the last years: the energy created by Fabrizio's sets worth living!

‘This kind of techno I am talking about points inwards’ says Frederic Lindemann about the sound he’s looking to produce. Listen to everything he’s done since his days as a music student and you’ll get a clue as to what he means. With a heavy focus on minutiae and exploration rather than mass-produced hooks, he’s a vehement exponent for the ’soul inherent in the machines’. His purist repetition and gradual modulation are the hallmarks of a stripped-down philosophy and body of work, a kind of sonic Occam’s razor. For our 23rd chapter, we are happy to welcome Atsushi Maeda, the founder of rural, the open air event which takes place each summer in Tokyo.

He is also behind the party “Addictedloop”, the foundation and the groundworks of rural, which has hosted Japan debuts of many techno artists in the past, and have recently started up again with their first party in a long time that took place at Contact.

In recent years, after some time away, Atsushi began his active role as a DJ again, captivating the crowds at Taipei’s Organik Festival, Bassiani in Tbilisi, and The Block in Tel Aviv.

This podcast as been recorded live for Contact anniversary in April 2022.  Atsushi mentioned that It was already high tension when he started his peak time set.

Mix number 3 in the Floor Effect mix series comes from our long time friend CHRISTY! Artist name XTY - Based in Brooklyn, New York, this veteran DJ, producer and tattoo artist has blessed us with a bouncy, rhythmic selection of house cuts that are as classic as they are groovy. 

We asked XTY a few questions about himself and the mix so you can learn a little more about this artist -

What is your artist name and where are you currently located?
XTY, Christy, currently based in Brooklyn, NY.

Can you tell us about this mix?
This mix was made to showcase my appreciation for house music, without it I'd be nowhere

What are you working on now that you are most excited about?
I'm always excited about the next tattoo I do, and I'm constantly working on new tracks. I have plans to release some originals before the end of the year. I'm also in a band and we are currently recording a new EP.

Any hobbies outside of music?
I am a full time tattooer, and I enjoy fitness a lot lately. Those and music keep me pretty busy!

ABOUT THE ARTIST: Native New Yorker and Indian by birth, Jahveri has been dabbling with music production and DJing since the early age of 16. What once started off as a hobby slowly became a passion. Having different aliases in the past, Jahveri was officially born in March of 2022 when he decided to take his artist vision in another direction.

In July of 2022, he started Hypnotherapy, a podcast on SoundCloud which showcases hypnotic and psychedelic music. He has featured artists like Damon Bradley, APS, Pastels, Eric Umble, Matt Altman & many more. In November of 2022 he founded Mind Xpansion, a party with one sole purpose, to bring the minds of like-minded music heads together. Some of his prior bookings include Isabel Soto, Lychee, Deepak Sharma, Sai & Aaron J.

Currently Jahveri has been hitting the studio more than ever, taking lessons with other producers in the game and really honing in on his sound. Three words that Jahveri uses to best describe his sound would be sci-fi, sinister & hypnotic. Some of his biggest influences right now include Takaaki Itoh, Luke Slater, Wata Igarashi & Oscar Mulero.

Mod21 is the project of Manuele Chiaravalloti, an italian electronic music producer and experimental sound artist. Born in Satriano, Italy, his musical journey began in 2007 when he moved to Switzerland. Here, after 7 years of musical research, produces his first two works released on the Munich based label Prologue. His music emerges from a deep and rich imagination which flows into sounds dark and slippery that seem to be born in the bowels of a parallel world to ours. Browsing increasingly abstract concepts of sound, carefully processed , the result is a particular footprint easily recognizable.
