BIO:
After his first release 'Rainbow Road' was focused on the feel good vibes of house music, with a strong Chicago and UK house influence. A new sound has emerged from Strange this year, as the world went into lock down, many lives changed dramatically.

For Strange this was a turning point where he focused his feelings on the music and the sound began to take hold. He began to explore dark melodic breaks, also known as Electronica. He used the time to create his single 'Shadow', which was selected for release on Stil vor Talent, and made it to #19 on Beatport's Electronica top 100, while also being added to Oliver Koletzki's Beatport Essential Tracks: June.

Shortly after, 'Flow' his next instalment and EP was released with the UK label Capital Heaven and was selected for the Beatport charts - Best New Breaks/Breakbeat & UK Bass: June and Opening Fundamentals 2021.

Now starting to break out in the underground scene of Sydney, Blake has begun to put his interests in producing Experimental Techno, something that he has enjoyed playing around in clubs, warehouse parties and rave's, usually playing to a mass audience under a highway bridge in the wee hours of the morning. These experiences have been captured and portrayed into the music that you are soon to hear.

We're honouring another legend on board this month. It's the artist that made 'A Thousand Nights', 'Nightcolors' and so many other recognisable anthems and whether it's Time Warp or Studio 80, he'll rock the hell out of it. This month's SEKOIA Podcast is by Gregor Tresher. 

His sets often differ from his productions, that tend to be a bit more on the deeper side. Playing mostly prime time spots at his gigs, that doesn't really come as a surprise. But for this podcast, we asked Gregor to take a step back and go deep. You can read more about this difference between producing and playing in the interview printed in DJ Mag, released today. Online version will follow soon!

"Here's my mix for the SEKOIA podcast series including some of my current favorite tracks and also a couple of gems that you might not have heard for some time. I tried to create a little rise and fall as I would do in a club-set, but kept it on a more deep and moody level this time - to make it enjoyable for a nighttime car-ride or listening on headphones. SEKOIA Podcast #021 - Gregor Tresher

2 hour set for the 20,000 Years of Restreality party at ://about blank – a Berlin club in Friedrichshain on 23.09.2023.
This is a mix of old and new tracks – some of them anthems of the early days of the Restrealität – a fun forum for ravers which celebrated its 20th birthday with this party. I became a member fairly soon after it started under the moniker 'Maddad' - bestowed on me by my children. My daughter was also a member.

Helmut Ebritsch is best known for his work as one half of Klartraum, alongside partner in crime Nadja Lind as well as for his work as Hatikvah with vocalist Florian Schirmacher. Now he is serving up a new EP under his own name, the stunning ‘Inspiration’ that proves his wide-ranging studio skills have no bounds. Helmut has been releasing since 1997 on labels like Soma, Darkroom Dubs and Sleep Is Commercial and wrote this new ‘Inspiration’ in Berlin using self built synths, effects and field recordings as well as an array of hardware.
Last year his big fourteen track Album ‘Souls Transmitting’ record was inspired by the complete listening experience offered up by Leftfield with their Leftism album during the 1990s and is the first time Helmut has really worked solo. So here comes a sonic follow up:

‘Pulse’ opens with the kinetic tech house, downbeat urban experimentation and retro bass line sound worlds that place you right at their centre. ‘Feel’ is hugely arresting with its groaning synths, shadowy voices and Helmut style futurism.

The title track is a mind-expanding journey from start to finish that really takes the listener on a sonic ride.

‘Morlox’ is a perfectly programmed and seductively sequenced ride from start to finish. It takes you up and down in some style and is surely Helmut Ebritsch’s finest work to date as a result.

His ascension through the local scene has been propelled by word of his diverse sets and conspicuous productions. Although his musical roots are embedded in House and Techno, Adam Husa transcends traditional genre-related barriers by placing an emphasis on the creation of his own unique dark sound, one which revolves around eerie grooves and deep melodies.

3 QUESTIONS to youANDme:

Q: Back in the days with your mix. Tell us about your exciting (vinyl) selection! 

A: I grew up in the north of Thuringia (Germany) which was not far away from Kassel. Back in the days there was an amazing club called Stammheim which had every weekend a nice line-up of international artists but they also had great residents. One of them was Pierre and he was for sure one of the best DJs I ever saw. He teached me all this crazy records and was definitly a good tastemaker in my early youth. It was much fun to search in my old collection to compile this mix because every record has so much memories and stories.

Q: You´re discovering the whole planet by playing your music everywhere. Which have been the most exciting places for you yet? 

A: Thats hard to say because i`m thankfull for every place where i can play my music but I had really good experiences in South America, Asia or Australia. It's always facinating that our music connect people of different cultures in a peacefull way. It's a universal language.

Q: Which future projects are on the way?

A: My next record featuring Gjaezon will be released in the beginning of August on Joris Voorn's & Edwin Oosterwal's label REJECTED. In September I will release at on one of my alltime favourite labels MULE MUSIQ from Japan featuring vocals of magic Black Soda and I will be back on Sven Väth's COCOON label in December. At the moment I'm working on my next album and I hope I can finish it soon.
