Bjorgo & Reistad - Ludvig in my Backpack from the new CD "Huskelappen/The reminder note" by the Norwegian duo Bjorgo&Reistad.

Ingunn Bjorgo (diatonic accordion) and Asmund Reistad (guitars/loops) have developed their musical signature and style over a long-lasting partnership. Ingunn writes the songs and Asmund then arranges them. Their point of departure and inspiration is Norwegian, Swedish and Celtic folk music and the songs are carried on the wings of the small yet powerful 2-rowed button accordion (squeezebox). The duo’s unique musical sound is formed in the place of union where “squeezebox” meets guitar, baritone guitar, loops and effects.

As Ludvig said, “That could be dangerous”  So, this is a little song of comfort for a doubting soul, who lives with a Ludvig in his or her (mental) backpack.

BULLY BOY RAG

A version of the traditional English folksong The Unquiet Grave, which is quite different to the version which starts "Cold Blows The Wind" as found elsewhere in England. This version was collected in Stoke Abbot, Dorset from Mrs.Jane Hann by brothers, Robert and Henry Hammond in 1906. Ralph Vaughan Williams went on to use this tune in his orchestral work 'Dives and Lazarus', one of my favourite pieces from the C20th.
Bouzouki is played by my husband Alan Symons. He was 'messing about' with chords one day when I heard the main progression he uses here and decided it would work well.

I'm a primary teacher, music specialist and choir leader. I write songs for myself, more recently on piano. Next year I am hoping to make an album and maybe start performing live in Cornwall!
