Faia (Romklang Records / Small Records / Femmes Fatales. NO)is an
Oslo-based DJ, producer and club promoter. Faia has played at most of the clubs and venues in Norway, as well as Oslo’s biggest open air festival Sommerøya and other electronic music festivals. 

She’s played at The Villa, Jaeger, Elefant, Skansen, Gudruns, Skippergata, Storgata 26 and Hausmania to name a few. 

Faia has been booked to several techno and house clubs around Europe such as Culture Box, Ved Siden Af, Club VOID, The Deaf Institute, Club Nomad, Burning Man Week Stockholm and many more.

In Germany she’s performed at Rummels Bucht, Golden Gate and Bohnengold in Berlin, Technodisco, Stroga Festival 2018, and Sandsteinhöhlen 2019. She's even been booked to Thailand at the Jai Thep Festival 2019 and other events in Chiang Mai, Pai and Koh Phangan.

Back in Oslo she's booked both local and international female DJs since 2010 to her successful Femmes Fatales' events on various venues. The concept had a 5 year residency at The Villa, and monthly events at Elefant for 2 years. 

With the label Small Records she's been a label DJ for a decade, and now in charge of the SmallCast mix series. 

In 2018 Faia got into production as well, and started a collaboration with the Norwegian producer Duppeditt. They own the label Romklang Records together, and are now releasing their music. In 2021 they got signed by the Belgian label PointZer0 Rec. 

Faia has been booked to events or shared decks with many well-known DJs and producers such as; Oxia, Pig&Dan, Ida Engberg, Djuma Soundsystem, Phaxe, Nastia, BeSvendsen, Guy J, Kruse and Nuernberg, DJ Hell, Turmspringer, Miss Sunshine/Insolate, Beddermann & Dahlmann, Ben Klock, Recondite, Gabriel Ananda, Thomas Schumacher and Moog Conspiracy.

Faia loves being behind the decks, and that also reflects the drive, energy and playfulness in her choice of music which is mostly deep, dark, groovy, techy and hard Minimal, Techno and House.

Unser zweiter Podcast in 2022 kommt von der gebürtigen Hauptstädterin Alex alias Schwirri, die zu den Berliner Kollektiven VERTEILER und FEMQUENCY gehört.

1. Wie bist du zur elektronischen Musik gekommen?
Ganz ursprünglich waren es wohl die gebrannten Loveparade-CDs im Auto meiner Mutter, die mich auf den elektronischen Weg gebracht haben. Von dem Sound ist heute in meinen eigenen Sets zwar nicht wirklich was zu hören, aber schon als kleines Mädchen interessierten und inspirierten mich die Menschen und der Vibe der Szene.  Zu meinem eigentlichen Stil hat mich dann wohl einer meiner Lieblingsplätze - der heiß geliebte Wintergarten im Sisyphos und viele sportliche Stunden und Tage, die ich dort schon verbracht habe, gebracht. 

2. Wie kam es dann zum Auflegen?
Fürs Auflegen interessiere ich mich bestimmt schon seitdem ich 15 bin. Immer mal wieder hatte ich hier und da die Gelegenheit, mich an den Decks auszuprobieren. Früher hab ich sogar noch schön CDs en masse zum Auflegen gebrannt. Wirklich getraut damit, an die Öffentlichkeit zu gehen, hab ich mich aber leider erst sehr spät, vor knapp zwei Jahren. Da fehlte mir schlicht der Glaube an mich selbst und daran, zwischen all den männlichen DJs, eine Chance zu haben. Diese Unsicherheit war schlussendlich auch die Base für die Gründung des Kollektivs FEMQUENCY.

3. Wie würdest du deinen Sound beschreiben?
Housig, groovig, Endlosschleife! Mein Sound macht gute Laune und passt am besten zu Sonnenschein und knallenden Sektkorken. Hauptsächlich bediene ich mich dem Microhouse, manchmal wird’s aber auch g-housig und rotzig oder auch minimalistisch. Was aber immer bleibt, ist der treibende Groove mit einnehmenden Basslines. 

4. Erzähl uns bitte etwas zu deinen beiden Kollektiven.
Ich habe das Kollektiv VERTEILER gemeinsam mit zwei Freunden 2019 ins Leben gerufen. „Back to the roots“ war der Ursprungsgedanke, denn die Verteiler sind davon überzeugt, dass Feiern immer das ist, was WIR draus machen. Wir sehen mehr als ‚nur‘ Musik. In der Symbiose aus Räumlichkeiten, Stimmung und Gefühl liegt das Potenzial, Menschen zueinander zu bringen und eine Ebene der harmonischen Kommunikation zu schaffen. 

Die FEMQUENCY’s sind ein Berliner Kollektiv von und für weiblich gelesene Personen, das sich dem Facettenreichtum der elektronischen Musik widmet. In Form von DJ-Workshops schaffen wir Safer Spaces für weniger Unsicherheiten, Mansplaining, Konkurrenzdenken untereinander und für mehr Mut, Fehler zuzulassen und von- und miteinander zu lernen. Mit der Gründung und Teilnahme möchte auch ich einen Beitrag zur aktuellen feministischen Debatte leisten. 

5. Und zu guter Letzt: Was war dein bisheriges musikalisches Highlight?
Mit meinem Herzensmenschen barti_music, den Wintergarten bespielen zu dürfen.

These are the first two hours of my 3 hours set at Sisyphos, Hammahalle..due to a lack of the recorder`s batteries.....

„The music was new, black polished chrome and came over the summer like liquid night ...“ 

and one of these nights in the year 2002 let the story of Florian Frings, born 21 October 1987 in the city of Linz, come to an eclipse!

Florian went to his first rave and deeply got in to touch with even the soul of Techno as well as he immediately recognized that something inside of him, in companion with this sound blewing his mind that night, needs to find a way out of him!

Nearby he starts to get participated into the world of DJing to tell the crowd about his emotions in electronic beats and the whole clubbing theme he decided to make the main component of his future life!

He did his first steps playing the old school vinyl style, but soon switched to the whole universe of digital sound producing and engineering to enter the next level of art!
 
Collecting experiences in clubs for several years he is now looking back to a deeply founded education with all the injections and ups and downs that made him this characteristically, grounded Technoid he now represents, when you get in touch with him!

In 2009 with moving from the province of Linz to the urban city of Cologne, Florian spread his universe with new social and cultured appliance and he began to found his own network inside the industry!

To found his intentions he studied Audio Engineering @ Deutsche POP (Music School) and focused his energy more and more into producing sounds.

This knowledge he is today giving away in Ableton live workshops @ at the EMS (Electronic Music School) in Cologne.

Together with his early companion and friend Elmar Strathe he founded his own label 5D-Records where he soon releases his first own created mellowed tracks.

A jump to the top he did after, the one and only Richie Hawtin, himself, made his produces a part of his sets in clubs and partys all over the world, and Florian soon became the new PLUS of the big MINUS Family where he is now starting up into higher dimensions and becoming a resident face of the movement!
