i am old so i listened to rap when rap was new. rap as a word has a more staccato tone and is blue and metallic with shell toes and big shoe strings. i grew up in theory listening to rap on a panasonic dictation machine on the school bus in a time when you could live in the ghetto and nobody would rob you for your radio. occasionally somebody might point a gun at you but just to scare you. nicer times were the mid to late 1980s. rap will always be a good word to me. it doesnt carry the same arrogant vibe the term hip hop has.

it worked like this, Christian Dumky sent me some audio he recorded on his phone and i made a few versions in 2018. this was not the final but it was weird and different so I thought I would share. pulled a few tweaks on it by ripping it to stems with UVR and poof! now there's a soundcloud drop.

free improvisation with a grain crossfader and FM Engine like i'm DJing for the first time but with effects i barely know how to use. in development: GrainFade is a deterministic/stochastic granular crossfader of main and sidechain sources which is not only harder to make than i expected, but even less useful than I could possibly have imagined. but I will make it as good as it can be before I release it. FM Engine has gotten massively improved by the way. Finding beta testers is like hens teeth. especially if they have no idea how to use it or why! i'm not making yet another EQ or compressor over here. come see why.
