We've been a fan of Motor City Drum Ensemble since the brooding and eerie "Escape To Nowhere" in 2007 - a track that sounded like someone had listened to "French Kiss" on acid and then tried to recreate what they heard. So when we started re-issuing Romanthony's classics with fresh remixes, MCDE's Danilo Plessow was always someone we wanted to on the project. It has taken 2 years to organise this mix and now it is finally here it doesn't disappoint.

This week's Worldwide Family Mixtape comes from a young producer out of Munich, who exploded on to the techno scene back in 2010 with his 'Monday' and 'Premelodic Structures' EPs on Boys Noize Recordings. The man who goes by the name of SCNTST has cemented his reputation as a producer who destroys dancefloors, whilst delighting and surprising his audiences with innovative and unexpected sounds and textures. 

This Mixtape is no different; with SCNTST including influences which shaped the writing of his sophomore album, due for release in early 2015, alongside exclusives both from the forthcoming LP and other hip hop side-projects. Enjoy!

Detroit Swindle – AKA – Lars Dales and Maarten Smeets are back with their first new material in a year and it’s great!

The two have been making waves, particularly in the UK over the past month and it’s excellent to have them back in full swing. From bringing their own ‘Great Escape’ party to Leeds to performing an endearing set at Fabric on Valentines day, it seems like almost the perfect time to bring you an exclusive first listen to the pairs brand new ‘The Punch Drunk EP’

The extended play leads off with ‘Allright (We’ll Be)’ a feel-good slice of future-retro discoid filter vocal house. The Dutch duo have nothing to do with Detroit – or techno – but have crafted a track that plays like a classic Nervous or Strictly Rhythm soundtrack.

Second track ‘Pursuit’ is more of chuggy, deeper track enthusing smooth, melodic synth pads, deep, groovy low-end sounds and easy-listening piano chords.

The EP is set for release through the duo’s own label Heist Recordings on the 23rd February and will be available through all major music distribution sites.
