Plattenkritik DeBug 1999: 
Ich an Infarkts Stelle würde bei dieser Art House bleiben und mir damit in diesem Jahr eine goldene Nase verdienen. Sehr deepe angenehme soundverliebte kickende abwechslungsreiche warme, und was mir sonst noch alles so an Adjektiven einer konkreten Sympathie mit Klängen einfällt, Tracks. Die beiden A-Seiten Tracks gehen in glitternder Weise mitten durch alle Sparten der Frankfurt Detroit Connection und auf den beiden Tracks innen wird der konkreten Kunst sehr heimelige Sounds zu Samplen noch mehr Platz gelassen, so daß die Stücke stellenweise an Herbert erinnern. Eine Perle nach der anderen. Perfekte Musik, um endlos über weiße Touristenstrände zu tanzen und sich dabei auch noch mit allem im reinen zu fühlen. Sehr sehr schön und irre deep.

About the project and event in German: "Der digitale Baum": "Wir laden ein zur Eröffnung des Digitalen Baums: Ein Bergahorn, der im Innenhof des Heimcomputermuseums Digital Retro Park steht, und mit Messgeräten ausgestattet ist. Die Daten des Baums werden in generativ erzeugte Klänge "übersetzt", er bekommt eine Stimme. Manches, das sich nur langsam verändert, wie z.b. die Abstandsmessung zum Boden, klingt bei einem Windzug oder wenn man eine Hand darunter hält ganz anders, der Baum reagiert auch direkt auf seine Umgebung.
Die meditativen Klänge laden zum zuhören und verweilen ein, aber auch Musiker, die mit dem Sound oder sogar mit den Daten improvisieren: Die Florida Beuys, aka die OF-Elektronik-Urgesteine Dirk Schricker & Matthias Braun, sowie der König der organischen Downtempo-Tracks, aka Dan Bay, werden die ersten sein, die "mit dem Baum" gemeinsam spielen.
Natürlich gibt's auch (kurze) einführende Worte vom Stadtverordneten und Kulturbeauftragten Kai Schmitdt sowie vom Kurator, ein Gläßchen Vernissagen-Wein & Häppchen, Einblicke in die Technik und natürlich, die Gelegenheit für viele Fragen zum kleinen Offenbacher Technikwunder.
Technikwunder klingt übertrieben? Eigentlich kaum, wenn man bedenkt, wie viele Künstler und technische Handwerker mitgearbeitet haben, um die komplexen Bestandteile des "Singenden Baumes" zusammen und zum funktionieren zu bringen, trotz erschwerter Corona-Bedingungen. Das soll heute gefeiert werden."

Electronic music project by Matthias Braun and Dirk Schricker. Active since 1996.

Florida Beuys create electronic music which sometimes aims for the floor, yet always maintains a playful and life-affirming quality. Their sound reflects a long lasting love for House, IDM and Techno with a naturally acquired Detroit sensibility, that was born in the 1990's, but nurtured throughout the following years and, in their new productions, gets filtered through an all-embracing perspective at music in all its variety and different manifestations.
