Melbourne based @crustext approach to mixing feels like an intimate listening session inside a studio, a space for inner reflection and creative growth. Marcus explores multiple cinematic soundscapes by juxtaposing different types of environments, resulting into a time-abstraction of neurotic babbling, where a crucible of worlds and free interpretations melt into a full spectrum of emotional tides. Ambient drones are being intertwined with natural field recordings and filled with vintage analogue synths, while unpredictable jazz grooves meet acoustic instruments and endless feedbacks, blending organic and electronic textures together into a unique sonic artefact.

Kilou (@lukas.theinert ) moves most of the time between dreamy and melancholic compositions, with a preference for ambient, drone and breaks. Mixed with spoken words or field recordings, Kilou likes to open up another level of storytelling.

This set tries to go on a walk with a good friend by mixing field recordings into the mix which want to give you a sense of place, location or surrounding. The cold wind of the night blows around your noses while you step over big loose rocks. ༄ ˜˝

Paris-born electronic music pioneer and 1970s GRM alumni Ariel Kalma joins with multinational New York trio Asa Tone (Kaazi, Melati ESP, Tristan Arp) for a series of intergenerational, electro-acoustic studio conversations, exploring elasticity within rhythm and winds… or as one early listener observed “space and time.”

Following a chance encounter at Ariel’s studio in the Australian rainforest during the pandemic, Melati & Kaazi began recording long live takes with Kalma, weaving in bioluminescent synth improvisations from Tristan Arp remotely. Revisited a few years later between the members of Asa Tone’s respective homes in New York & Indonesia, “○” is the document of a significant moment in the lives of all the album’s players; an ode to memory and connection in an era of crisis, illuminated via flickering fragments of steel flute, kantilan, modular synthesizer, xaphoon, tenor sax, EWI, field recordings of the surrounding rainforest, and the human voice.

This compilation unites music from Mutant Radio’s friends and residents, with all proceeds directly supporting political prisoners, their families, and activists across different regions of Georgia. The struggle continues until every political prisoner is freed and new elections take place.

Whether on the streets, in our space, or through the airwaves, we remain firmly alongside the movement. Without true freedom, creativity is silenced, culture fades, and Mutant Radio cannot exist.

Florina Speth, born 1983 in the mountains near Salzburg, started playing the cello and piano at the age of 6 and began studying music at the “University Mozarteum Salzburg” when she was just 11. She won several prices playing solo and string quartett ensembles, was part of orchestras like Bayerisches Landesjugend Orchester and Salzburger Junge Philarmonie all over Europe. Always keenly interested in contemporary music, she was part of performing ensembles in lots of world premieres.

In her PhD she investigated the role of sound in robotic rehabilitation. She has been working as Postdoctoral researcher on Music, Machines and the Human hand. She has been working as a futurist, writing books on the 22nd century and future of health. These days she holds a professorship in Digital Health in which she tackles the humane tech-potentials for the silver society.

She loves bridging experimental arts with science to get inspiring output. In current live performances she works with cello and synths.
