I'm struggling to say something clever about this. something about how the synth bass both follows a regular pace yet repeats in a highly irregular manner. something about how this builds on everything you've done so well with strings and soundscapes - but also stakes out entirely new territory. I wish I had a good way to say all of those things. instead I will just say this: thank you.

The project "Sonic Topologies" unfold the sounds of diverse sites in Zurich—a botanical garden, a swimming pool, a water reservoir and a lake shore. Christian Hutchinson-Berg (Kite, Yvonne) and Andreas Tilliander (Mokira, TM404) have known each other forever but very rarely collaborated musically. Until now. Here is Wind & Fire with our debut tape WF1. 

Each cassette is a duplicate of the previous one where cassette number 001 is the master, 002 a copy of 001, 003 of 002, 004 of 003 et cetera. 
In this way, every cassette is unique and the sound is slowly degrading, getting more distorted and weird with each new copy. 
A nod to Alvin Lucier’s I Am Sitting In a Room or perhaps even more to the The Cure cassettes we taped from and to our friends as kids. The cover art is treated the same way.

The second instalment in the Titrate series marks the debut of Pagan Red. Field recordings interweave with the synthetic, sparse rhythms emerge and dissolve, absorbing textures layer and evaporate. Exploring the symbiosis between the natural and the nonmaterial, Materia guides listeners on a journey across the threshold.

ZYRCADIAN EDITIONS MIX #044 - RACHAEL

Saqiya (Arabic: ساقِية, the Arabic name of a mechanical water lifting device) was a village in Palestine .
The village was situated on uneven terrain on the central coastal plain, 8.5 km east of Jaffa. A number of paved roads passing through or near the village afforded it easy access to Jaffa, Lydda, Tel Aviv, and adjacent villages as well.

According to Israeli sources, the village was attacked and captured on 25 April 1948; a Palestinian source and an Associated Press dispatch both state that it fell a couple of days later, on 27-28 April, along with al-Khayriyya and Kafr 'Ana. In either case, it was one of the villages targeted during Operation Chametz. The History of the Haganah states that Saqiya and neighboring villages were all taken “without a fight”. No mention is made of their residents.

The settlement of Or Yehuda was established in village lands in 1950 to settle Jews from Irak and North Africa. Ramat Pinqas was built in 1952 on land belonging to the neighboring village of al-Khayriyya.

No more than ten houses remain. Some are inhabited by Jewish families, one is used as a workshop for car repair, and others are deserted. One of the occupied houses has a large front door and a garret with a slanted roof extending along the short. A second hosue is quite long and has a large number of wondows of various sizes. A third is a two-storey house whose second floor is fronted by a facade decorated with wide lancet arches. In addition to the houses, there are truncated walls, the mud-brich foundation of a destroyed building, and other debris on the site. There are also cactuses and sycamore, cypress, Christ's-thorn, and palm trees. Part of the surrounding land is cultivated; the rest is covered by settlement buildings.

Island Flux remixes brings together a diverse group of artists who were given the raw elements from Dissolved's 2022 album "Island Flux". Given no restrictions, each artist has placed their own unique stamp on the tracks, resulting in a collection that stretches and morphs into new expanses while allowing the ghosts of the originals to still exist.
The original album cover depicted an unknown and strangely isolated island, located 'somewhere'.
To reflect the way these remixes expand and change the originals, the orignal photo has been artificially expanded, revealing a new expanse of ocean and sky, somehow making the island even more remote and mysterious and allowing the music to take you on a different voyage.

Florina Speth, born 1983 in the mountains near Salzburg, started playing the cello and piano at the age of 6 and began studying music at the “University Mozarteum Salzburg” when she was just 11. She won several prices playing solo and string quartett ensembles, was part of orchestras like Bayerisches Landesjugend Orchester and Salzburger Junge Philarmonie all over Europe. Always keenly interested in contemporary music, she was part of performing ensembles in lots of world premieres.

In her PhD she investigated the role of sound in robotic rehabilitation. She has been working as Postdoctoral researcher on Music, Machines and the Human hand. She has been working as a futurist, writing books on the 22nd century and future of health. These days she holds a professorship in Digital Health in which she tackles the humane tech-potentials for the silver society.

She loves bridging experimental arts with science to get inspiring output. In current live performances she works with cello and synths.
