Skarloey Railway Themes

Commissioned by N's Den, who wanted a Series 6 styled theme for Duck. I don't do a lot of S6-7 stuff but they are rather interesting to work with sometimes, definitely a more classical approach during this era of the show's music. 


Around this time, a lot of the signature themes became a lot more 'smooth' and let the strings and woodwinds provide the rhythm compare to let's say Series 1-4 which still liked to use cabasas to emulate pistons or kick drums to add a punch. While not as appreciated as the shows earlier music, this style of music fits the Gullane era tone perfectly.

Duck the Great Western Engine's Theme (Series 6 Remix)

Here's quite the interesting find! I am proud to present the original vintage TV used recording of Edward The Blue Engine's theme tune from 1986. (Used in the second series and TTTE and)After pulling some strings I have finally managed to get my hands on one of these tapes. Though, I had to restore them as the original was a bit scuffed. And finally, without further ado... the final piece in my "Engine Themes De-Mixed" album! I couldn't be happier with how this turned out. You'll notice I changed up the melody a little bit in order to further differentiate it from Rusty's theme. This has been a really fun exercise, but now I need to figure out what the heck else I want to do. OH YEAH ALSO THANKS FOR 900 FOLLOWERS, HOLY CRAP.

It was a bit of a doozy attempting this a year ago, but after a bit of hard work and careful listening, I'd say this is pretty close to accurate! Do enjoy this, share it, and stay tuned...

Probably one of the more neglected themes of the sixth series right here. I don't understand why though - it's a beautiful piece with amazing strings, and I had fun making this, too. Enjoy!
