Aokigahara (青木ヶ原), known as the Suicide Forest is a 35-square-kilometre forest that lies at the northwest base of Mount Fuji in Japan. Aokigahara forest is dense, shutting out all but the natural sounds of the forest itself. The forest has an historic association with demons in Japanese mythology, and it is a notoriously common suicide site. 

Duncan Ritchie explores the long journey to Aokigahara through soundscapes ripe with lonely pianos on textural backdrops. Duncan spent countless hours field recording on the voyage between Tokyo to Aokigahara which creates the perfect atmospheric companion to the intricate instrumental approach. Field recordings from foggy towns to desolate mountains. Deep space drone and crackling amplifiers combine into a black sky devoid of stars. 

Yog-Sothoth is a cosmic entity and Outer God of the Cthulhu Mythos and the Dream Cycle of H. P. Lovecraft. Born of the Nameless Mist, he is the progenitor of Cthulhu, Hastur the Unspeakable and the ancestor of the Voormi. 

Yog-Sothoth is omniscient, and is locked outside the universe, meaning he knows and can see all of space-time all at once, that there is no secret hidden from Yog-Sothoth.

Nathan Hassall leads the way where few are willing to go, deep into the mind's Dark Sanctuary. All-knowing doctors, schizophrenic demons and apocalyptic visions are all part of the process within the confines of flesh. Once entered, there is no way to unlearn the awakened chimeras of the self.

Love Like Blood serves as a companion piece to Flowers for Bodysnatchers seminal Dark Ambient album Aokigahara. In this album we explore the haunted tale of despair of love lost, found and lost again. Our protagonists journey from the previous album is a shadowy narrative walking hand in hand with the fatal attraction that is Aokigahara. 

The album revisits the lonely intricate piano movements, soundscapes and field recordings compiled while exploring the underworld that is Tokyo. Exploring a metropolis and an individual constantly in a state of decay and rebirth. As is Love Like Blood.
