Usually there is a concept behind all my podcasts and sets on Soundcloud. I often orientate myself on the sound that the respective podcast series stands for or try to create something that reflects my current mood. The whole thing is completely detached from what I would play in a club at night - a club is a club and a podcast is a podcast!

My goal is to tell a story in my mixes. And these stories can be diverse, whether at 82 or 135bpm, whether downtempo or minimal, ambient or deep house. My personal aspiration as a DJ has always been to take my listeners on a journey with my sets and not just pack my 10 favorite tracks together. That seems too easy to me.

But there are also constraints with this approach, but Flow Music managed to finally open up to me and shed this "stubbornness". The target is to create a mix with a length of 3:33:33 - that's damn long if you usually only aim for like 60 minutes. Due to this challenge, I tried to free myself and imagined a situation - being at an open air festival. Groovy house tracks should go hand in hand with organic elements. It doesn't matter how old a track is. I just started playing, imagining that I was at a festival during the day. I hope you can feel it and enjoy the mix.

His sets feels like an endless flow, two hours becomes six and feels like ten minutes. We forget about time and the outside world, we are drown into the present moment and don’t want to leave this world filled with softness.

This month I almost put together one of my Slinky mixes, but it just didn't feel right to pull the tempo down on these tunes. This one bumps along at a comfortable 122, but still there's something airy about it. A bit of space in the grooves and some more minimal selections.

Truthfully, when my friends at Robot Heart asked me if I was coming to the Renegade Burn, I had no real plans to attend, expecting to wait yet another year to return home. However, when I learned the camp was collectively coming together to celebrate the life of Geo and expressed that it would mean a lot to them if I could come and share my music for the occasion, how could I say no? And then in true playa fashion, plans miraculously came together and I found myself in a strangely familiar yet unfamiliar environment.

The Renegade Burn was not THE Burning Man event we all have come to love and expect. But it had a unique magic to it, perhaps similar to the Burning Man years of old.  For this set in honor of Geo, my intention was to debut some brand new music from myself as well as bring back some timeless classics that always resonated with me. I hope it also resonates with you on some level. Thanks as always to the Robot Heart family for the constant support, and of course to all the dancers and creators that make up our community. I am happy to have played a small part in celebrating the amazing life of the one and only Geo.

Jon Charnis - Robot Heart - Free Burn 2021

Acid Pauli closed out an historical Saturday night which saw the first live music to emanate from New York City’s iconic Wollman Rink in 43 years with a masterful performance . 

His set celebrates the moment, the musical history at the venue, and transported all of those in attendance from the streets of New York, to Berlin, to Burning Man, and beyond. 

Walking out of Central Park at the close of his set on top of the Robot Heart Bus, the energy still high, the group encountered another art car with a party starting in the street at 59th and 5th Ave. Heard wafting through the crowd, the sentiment of “are we even in New York?” seemed unanimous. 

We hope you enjoy the set, and these beautiful memories. As Acid Pauli reiterates, "the music speaks for itself".

Hailing from Melbourne, Australia -- Joe Miller has become a close friend of the Bespoke Musik Family, starting with his 2019 Brooklyn debut alongside one of our favorite visual artists/muralists, Joe Miller (Chicago)for an event we called Doppelgänger. Hilarity ensued, and we became fast friends.

For the twenty-third Far Blue concept, we have none other than Joe Miller sharing his perception with us. This one has been long in the making, as Joe has been one of the first artists we were in touch with when we started this project. We have stayed in touch all this time, and always stayed curious for what Joe would eventually put together as his Far Blue concept. After he did a beautiful playlist curation for us back in February, he has now found the time to put his perception of Far Blue into a mix.

"This is a studio mix I put together in Ableton Live at my desk facing west over a busy street just outside Melbourne. You can see the weather changing over the city from here, and I like working into the evening and watching the sun go down, after which a giant Art Deco sign lights up the sky. It's a mix for people in the Northern Hemisphere as winter begins."

Taking a more acoustic and shorter approach with this mix, this is definitely something different than what we've had before. Nevertheless, we feel that this mix once again really hits the spot, and showcases another inspiring side of Far Blue.

Powel @ Desert Hut Podcast Series [ Chapter XLIII ]

For someone who likes dance music, I have a pretty short attention span, and I tend to do a ton of editing on my studio mixes so that tracks are changing over every few minutes. But Flow Sessions' 3.33-minute allowance let me lay off the scissors for once, giving these tracks plenty of space to breathe. I ran all around the hills and groves of electronic music from the last thirty years – there's new age ambience from the nineties in here, low-slung Andy Stott techno, hip hop (from 1996 to 2017), house, classic jungle, Flying Lotus (gets his own genre), and even a bit of folk music. It's the kind of selection that'd make sense in London in the winter, with a gently hopeful melancholy tying it together. But my idea of melancholy is often someone else's idea of euphoria, so if you find this uplifting then that's good too.

A huge thank you to Flow Sessions for setting up this scheme. There's a respect and nurturing spirit behind this thing, and now that the heyday of the mix CD is long gone, any gesture of support towards mix curators is really heartening.
