People take it almost for granted but it’s such a technical and logistical challenge to run an artcar in the desert.

Festival grade tech - generators, PA, lighting etc - has to fit inside a tiny bus and kept running for a week. Overheating is the main danger, mechanical wear and tear due to dust and vibration is substantial. Generators need constant refueling. Easier said than done when the fuel truck does not show up due to sandstorms.

Then you need a bunch of security to keep people from being run over or falling off the artcar. The chaos these crews have to manage is substantial.

It takes a village. 🙏🏽❤️"

Patrice Baumel - Mayan Warrior - Burning Man 2022

This is a large portion of my 12 hour set at Stereo Montreal on September 28, 2024, my longest solo set ever. Missing are the first 2 hours, which I cut for better overall flow, as well as the last hour, which was not recorded as my recorder ran out of battery power.

To me, Stereo represents the absolute top of electronic music clubs worldwide. It is one of the few places that gives DJs the canvas to play long sets under near optimal conditions - an amazing sound system, great monitors, beautiful and subtle lighting and - last but not least - a knowledgeable, demanding and unified crowd.

It all started on a rainy, dark January day.
We felt like the weather, dark and deep under water, but after a little more than an hour there was a brief glimmer of light.
Our mood changed, we drifted more and more into the depths of the collection.
Suddenly we found ourselves in the middle of the club sound of Frankfurt, just as we would define it for ourselves today!
With all the influences of our musical journey over the last 25 years.

Flow Sessions 118 - Death on the Balcony

I've always been a fan of the
Flow Sessions series and make it a point to listen to every mix.
The concept is refreshing — three hours, thirty-three minutes, and thirty-three seconds that
give a DJ the freedom to go deep, move beyond peak-time tracks, and let the mix truly
breathe.
For this set, I recorded the mix and added some layering and effects in Ableton, especially in
the intro. It begins with ambient and deeper cuts, like stepping into a room as the dance
floor
slowly comes to life. From there, the energy builds and holds steady before winding down into
a soft landing of melodic, moody textures.
I hope you enjoy listening as much as I enjoyed creating it. Thanks for the opportunity — and

This mix reflects our shared taste in deep and minimal house. We carefully chose tracks that focus on subtle grooves, clear rhythms, and textured sounds. The goal was to create a smooth, steady flow that keeps the energy balanced and allows each track to shine.

We approached this mix with simplicity and precision, avoiding unnecessary complexity or forced peaks. Instead, it’s about letting the music speak on its own terms, highlighting the nuances that make deep house compelling.

The result is a focused, consistent set that invites listeners to experience deep house in its purest form. It’s a reflection of how we like to connect with the music through minimalistic and deep elements.
