Flow Sessions - Chapter 1

There is no box into which you must fit in because you are free in your mind to do whatever you love. Being real, being authentc, being a full tme music lover. That means: go to bed and wake up with only music in your head. About the mix, oh... a bit difficult to write about. I mean its a studio mix, so its different from live mixes which I'm performing in the clubs, so usually a bit slower and more focus on storytelling than clubbing/peak time. So the mix is about my current favourites, tracks from my label and some of my upcoming album tracks.

Words from the Artist @wearechambord: When the Flow Sessions team asked us to make a podcast of 3:33:33 secs, we accepted straight away! It’s quite unique to do a long podcast when all tracks have an importance and a special place in the set. The goal behind this journey was to create a glimpse of what a night with us might entail. We brought grooves, energy and different moods in this unique session. Hope you will enjoy the ride as much as we loved making it ;)

With a unique and special identity, Chambord’s exhilarating eclectic energy and charged live shows quickly earned them a reputation as one of the most exciting acts to emerge from the Parisian music scene. Their dynamic and melodic sound originating from their boundless visual imagination along with their resonating live performances and DJ sets helped the duo quickly rise to prominence. Creating a fanbase across the globe by performing at some of the most celebrated and renowned events such as Mayan Warrior, Ondalinda, Gardens of Babylon, ADE, Woomoon, and Sonar Festival (to name a few), the duo have established themselves with a high energy performance that is not to be missed. In June 2022, they launched their own new label called Around Midnight with a seminal remix of Radiohead's Reckoner.

Flow Sessions 084 - Chambord

A mixture of energy and harmonies defines Aracil's personal sound, which rides between melancholic and euphoric and distinguishes himself with a very unique style of production, as he is always trying to push the boundaries forward in his sound, and tell a story with every song. His latest tracks have been released on the Berlin labels Einmusika Recordings, Katermukke and Dantze and the label run by Pablo Bolivar, Seven Villas Music.

Words from the artist: I was born into a musical family and my musical roots lie in soul. My father was a musician, the singer of renowned Spanish soul band from the 60's Los Dixies along with his six(!) siblings who were all musicians. My own musical journey started with DJing in London when I was 17, and over the last 15 years I have been a part of the music scene in Ibiza. I created this special mix overlooking the sunset and the rising moon at the beautiful Casa Maca. Although I love playing hard, as my DJing style ranges from pure deep house to melodic techno (with influences from Berlin), I also come from a downtempo background, so this mix was a special chance to revisit my roots for this Flow Session, and tell a slightly slower and soulful story. I hope you enjoy the journey!

Flow Sessions 085 - Aracil

For this podcast, I decided to explore my different facets as an artist. Through sound, I explore all the Paradoxes we face in our lives: throughout the whole 3 hours, 33 minutes and 33 seconds journey, I contrast darkness with lightness, emotions with energy. The podcast starts with softer dance music that I truly enjoy but don’t have the opportunity to play most of the time. The energy levels then gradually increase, reaching the sound I play in peak time, until we finally reach an emotional ending. There are many unreleased (and some unfinished) tracks of mine in this podcast--some for
the dancefloor, some to enjoy on a sunset drive. Some of these songs will come out this year and others in 2023. Can you spot them?

Flow Sessions 086 - Paradoks

I've always been a huge fan of longer set times as it enables me to fully tell my stories without any boundaries, which is why the concept of Flow Sessions deeply resonated with me early on. I deep dived in my library for days and after everything was set, I've just let it flow in my studio for 3 hours 33 minutes and 33 seconds, fluently grooving to higher BPMs, playing some of the most beautiful tracks I've collected over the years. Some hidden gems, some long forgotten beauties, a few new unreleased tracks of mine... I hope you flow as much as I did while recording this and it makes the upcoming autumn and winter months a little more bearable to you if you're based in the northern hemispheres. If you're to be found in the southern hemispheres I hope it makes you smile to the sun and appreciate life and music to the fullest. Isn't music such a beautiful thing?!

Hello to everybody! I wanted to connect you to the enchantment of Greek summers and the memories they leave behind! I'm in London right now and totally focused on the new music production that my team and I are developing for the upcoming period. As I travel constantly between many countries, this is a really demanding time for me. I consider myself very lucky that my job gives me the chance to regularly encounter new people, new cities, and new cultures that can stimulate my thoughts and help me grow and develop as a person and as an artist.

"As a DJ and a producer I always try to be authentic and to reflect what I feel. Being able to record a 3 hour and 33 minute set for a well respected platform like Flow is an opportunity I did not want to miss.
I plunged myself into the deep and more obscure tracks in comparison to the stuff I usually play at clubs or big festivals and I went to a club in my hometown Ghent (BE) to record this mix on a big sound system in order to immerse myself into a real flow.
Starting out with some really deep electronic music for the first hour in order to create the perfect vibe and then to build onwards to what I consider a timeless vibe.”

Flow Sessions 091 - Lexer

How many of us look at the time and it is always 22:22 or 11:11 and so on? For some people, it doesn’t mean anything and they call it a simple coincidence, but for others like me, or other ‘Flow-ers' it means that you are at the right place, merging with the flow of life or that someone is thinking of you! I locked myself up for this 3:33:33.33.33 sets (yes it’s all about details)standing in front of my CDs, and CDJs, and started recording this set. It all started with a joint and ended up in a disco-ish party passing through some weird, joyful and acid-ish flows. This set is a good representation of what I love to play depending on the gigs. A wide range of carefully selected music and a lot of upcoming tracks, collabs, edits and remixes produced over these last two crazy years! Flow Sessions 093 - RAMMÖ

For my upcoming Australian debut, this 03:hr:33min long audio journey gave me the opportunity to play with energetic dancefloor music, progressive elements, melodic vocal tracks, and leftfield indie vibes, and of course a few tracks accompanied with electric violin to describe the musical story. Playing such an extended set, I felt like hiding some unreleased music in between this never-ending romance with sound - so enjoy it with a good pair of speakers and casual sense of humour! If you were to ask, DADADISCO wouldn't name a single specific source of their inspiration. These two French gourmands take in and digest pretty much everything, from hard rock and heavy metal to synthetics and ambience... That means you can expect anything from Denis and Guillaume but cliché. Design, art, cinema and fashion are just as important to them as music. And it all comes through in their sets. These gents are very much the products of the "promiscuous and omnivorous" disco mayhem, forever imprinted in the collective memory of club culture as Bar25. It was through this jolly demonic mill, fumes and flames, thick and thin, that this combo blazed their way onto Berlin's raucous music scene. Veritable performers, their epic endless sets were somewhat of a cross between music and circus. When it closed for good, DADADISCO went global, spreading their retro-futuristic sound along with their overtly surrealist attitude. "Dada" in their name refers, of course, to a movement that in the mid-20th century famously repudiated and mocked all sorts of artistic conventions while emphasizing the illogical and absurd. DADADISCO keeps experimenting with genres and influences to discover and deliver their own unique blend of sexy electronica, always favouring spontaneity over etiquette. The name sticks on all of these counts.

Normally, podcasts are easy to do and being motivated, one goes to work in exciting anticipation to let the latest delicacies and accumulated "podcast records" shine.
At 3hrs 33min though, the situation is different. We rummaged deep in the record crate, full of enthusiasm knowing exactly what was being played. Dissatisfied with the result and a musical existential crisis not far away, we reflected and rethought the essence of our music: who are we and what do we want anyway? With detective acumen, we conducted acquisitions for weeks and dove into old and new realms in search of the undefinable. Back to the roots...

It's done. One of the most powerful mixes we've had the pleasure to record so far is in the can. 

We are proud to present our Flow Mix, which is a cross section of our last three years of downtempo with a pinch of reminiscence. On board are many of our own productions, which we are finally proud to show the world in one big mix. 
Much of the style of Dj mixes we represent today may not be immediately recognisable in it. But we still keep familiar principles, because the essence is always the same: the emotion, the smirk and of course grooves for days!
The journey starts quietly and with deep sound and gains momentum as it goes on. 
It ends as it begins: with guitars. The full circle.

Flow Sessions 098 - Amir Telem

The Flow sessions are a very unique podcast series. The project gives the artists so much more space to present their musical vision, and that's exactly what I did in my contribution. I love long DJ sets because with each hour I get deeper into my flow and can take people on a journey with me.  We start with a more leisurely pace, driving through the vastness of indie dance tracks, and spiraling more and more into the worlds of deep and melodic house. My mix winds through the many facets of my DJ sets and includes the different visions of modern electronic music that I like to present on the dancefloors of the world. Over time, the journey becomes more energetic and lands in the realm of more techno sounds. I love to tell stories and gain momentum over time to celebrate music together ecstatically. That's what I wanted to achieve with this mix. I really hope this one brings you joy. Thanks for having me. - Robin

Describing the sound and sonics aesthetics of Robin Schellenberg’s music, one could tend easily to use bold buzzwords like „Melodic Techno“ or „Deep House“  – but there is something more to it: his productions oscillate effortless through a soft dystopian void full of sweeping build up’s: His tracks are drifting endlessly into an infinite sky, twisting from warm unisons into harsher electronics, just to break down into well-tempered saturated up-tempo beats. It's not Dark Techno by definition, but Robin often gets driven towards its aesthetic, without drifting into its cold industrial repetition. His tracks feel like a deep yearning for the horizon, pulling the dancer tenderly forward with soft melancholy. In his DJ-Set’s all of this falls into place, with tempi from 119 – 125 bpm, blending deep, dark and psychedelic elements into heavy sweeping bangers, to slowly lead the dance floor into a sweet and endless decay. Robin released music with labels like Stil Vor Talent, Katermukke, Einmusika and has upcoming releases scheduled for Stil Vor Talent & Katermukke in 2023.

Our mission is to give a new outlet for creativity to the international electronic music industry through our intentional long format mix series. It invites the artist to create a magnum opus of a composition which will endure over the years due to discovery both through the artists profile and our profile. 

Flow Music’s mixes are designed to take the listener on an energetic journey, allowing each artist to express their full creativity and truly find their flow.
