A reflective, singer, songwriter, Christmas song, perhaps more of an  Advent piece. this was recorded back in 2014 in my home studio, which hasn’t improved much since then, nor my production skills, but there you go. Following are the lyrics for this version of the tune.

I would like to know.
What would Jesus dream for Xmas,
With or without snow?
What would Jesus hope for Xmas?
What would He welcome?

What would Jesus add this Xmas
To his Santa list?

 Or an end to children’s crying,
 Hunger, war and pain?

What would Jesus want for Xmas?
Can you make a guess?
Would you believe He might go for
A bit more of less?
Less confusion, less corruption,
Less divisiveness,
Less of hatred, less of fighting
And less selfishness.

 Maybe something strange at Xmas
 Would be in His heart,
 Maybe like a world of gladness,
 Like a brand new start.
 Would He pick the gift of kindness,
 Over lights and fun?
 Would He prefer love on Xmas,
 Shared with everyone?

 Still I’ve found no perfect answers
 For the questions posed.
 I suppose it’s hard to seek them,
 While my eyes are closed.
 But as long as I have shut them,
 Maybe I should pray.
 At least that way I might hear what
 Jesus has to say.

Wall Around Freedom

Once, long, long ago,
In a world far, far away,
Shown a hopeful land known as Freedom.
Each soul could come and go.
No one stood in the way.
All shared and loved and all were welcome.

One day came a blow,
Winds of fear fanning hate,
'Til peace and joy were abandoned.
Instead spread dread and woe.
Lady Liberty cried all day,
Her torch was snuffed her light was gone.

You can't build a wall around freedom;  you can't raise offense that high.
No way to lock in freedom, no matter how hard you try.
You can't build a wall around freedom. Freedom shines from heaven's eye.

If you want a wall around freedom, 
Got to stretch it mighty wide.
Make sure your freedom wall 
Stands high enough to reach the sky.
When you finish hiding freedom

I was born, taking coffee with my milk, and now I take milk with my coffee. I gave up sugar yesterday, first of May 2023, in celebration of Labor Liberation Day.

My family in Turkiye live on the coast of three different seas, and two different continents. The rest of my family, my daughter, brother, cousins, and aunt are all in one continent, which is not to say incontinent in the United States. I am from the natal clas of 1952, and my wife, Fatos is a ‘56er.

As a songwriter, I’m a late bloomer, but I’ve been riding most of my life.  I had a bit of writers block when I was eight, because I broke my right arm when I hit that taxi in the street. 
My third charm was a time, about 42 years ago, in Istanbul, Turkiye. Now my family is bi-national. Our place in Datça, on Turkiye’s south coast, is almost on the exact same latitude as my other hometown of Tulsa. I play with vocals, guitars,and recorders.  Secretly, I would love to do some cowriting. I experimented with it in the last year or two. I think my partner is still suffering from shock and frustration. 
However, I continue to hope.
