The piece "Pine" is an attempt to convey the peaceful and contemplative atmosphere I experience when I walk in the woods. It's not so much about having a defined melody or complex harmony, but more about creating a mood and an atmosphere.

As with my previous recordings, I've used my Malmsjö piano from 1911 to bring this piece to life. However, this time, I've added some felt effects to create a slightly altered sound that fits the overall mood of the composition.

In this piece, I've used felt to soften some of the sharpness of the notes, creating a more subtle and delicate sound that blends well with the theme of the piece.

Home Diaries is an invitation to artists and musicians to create an album or EP to document their personal experience during the lockdown or social distancing conditions that are upon us, due to the coronavirus outbreak. The series reflects a range of sounds, styles and ideas, as each artist portrays their own reflections uniquely. Each release is digital only for now, as we hope to raise what we can to help keep our label ticking over at this time. The releases feature a recurring polaroid image of a small lonely house, with a coloured filter chosen by the artist for each respective release. We interview each artist and this is included as a bonus PDF with the download. You can also check out the Home Diaries series on Spotify if you prefer, which will be available to stream in due course.

Our final Home Diaries sees the return of Luis Miehlich whose album Timecuts was released by us last year. Luis has also been active with self-released works as well as the beautiful 'Silences' on Archives in 2018. He is a music student and pianist and the pandemic resulted in the cancellation of a performance he'd written music for. Whilst the lockdown in Heidelberg, Germany was less stringent than many other countries, Luis spent his time at home and the endless repetition of days gave him a sense of time running away at pace.

Luis' Home Diaries is an expansive, almost hour-long collection of piano improvisations, which he created to counter his perception of time, to slow the world down. He used subtle delay effects to force him to have an awareness of the past and future as he played. The gentlest of electronics and guitar is used to accompany the piano at times and the result is something we feel is the perfect way to end the journey that has been this Home Diaries series.

Hello everyone, I would like to show you my new album "Pereehali". This is my third album, it was written and recorded in the summer of 2012. After a long writer's block that was caused by a very pretentious and bombastic second album I decided to make a really intimate, solo-piano work. I lived in the countryside during the recording sessions, and every recording was done by me tête-à-tête with my lovely piano in the wooden house. It was a priceless experience working and writing while having a close contact with nature, it helped me a lot to understand the music I compose, to make it more organic, touching and moving.

“We wanted to create something special for this project, something psychedelic: something that bridges the gap between the Maps and Diagrams & Atlantis output and Genoveva’s previous vocal work. It’s an exploratory, elemental union that includes a significant, immersive and expressive vocal narrative. The overall theme of light and hope is perhaps not so apparent on the first few listens because the vocals are full of hidden mystery. However, its nascent sense of optimism does become apparent the more you listen to it, essentially it’s a journey of hope” - Tim Diagram / Genoveva – May 2012

Bluhm is the exquisite outcome of four months of collaboration between intelligent musical innovator Tim Diagram and enigmatic Macedonian songstress Genoveva. The album’s genesis began with Tim putting down basic unforced song structures. The musical production side utilises his trademark palette of drone, delay, reverb, discord, distortion, tape effects and granular synthesis. All consciously crafted with the light, ardour and purity that is always associated with his oeuvre.

These primary melodies were presented to Genoveva, who then added her seraphic vocals. Both protagonists contributed to the powerful and inspirational lyrical content of the work that exposes glimpses of the beauty and significance of true reflection. The album plays out like a journey of personal sacrifice and self-development. These artists bring swathes of emotional intelligence to the table, and this comes out in vocals which ebb and flow with a haunting poetic melancholy. There’s a strong sense of attachment to each of the songs, all of which possess dynamic emotive themes. There are tales of despair, of isolation, of staring into the abyss and being lost inside your own mind, chased by your own monsters and demons.

Both contributors view music as being a key element of their lives, and of their ultimate salvation. They find a release in creativity and relate to each other’s challenges and dilemmas. So this work is also the story of a blossoming friendship, one that was generated through a complete love and utter devotion to music. There is no formula to any of the songs, it all pieced together organically as the work progressed, with little or no arrangement with the vocals, they are as they were sung.

All of humanity can relate to the life-changing experiences that are so eloquently documented here. The effort of coming to terms with life’s ups and downs, the semiotic visions of self-pity, the torment, the psychotic episodes, the desire for acceptance; and above all, the hope of an eventual salvation that can only be gained through respective responsibility and inestimable self-effort.

Bluhm is pure euphoria; it leaves one feeling wholesome inside as its emotional and sensual overtones induce an altered sense of self-realisation. Sentient soundscapes of virtue and lucidity create a fabulous feeling of solid inner strength that permeates every fibre of human existence. Overcome by the profundity of the experience one will be fully prepared to dare to live one’s life once again.
