Mysterious Traveller is the second full length by Ecuadorian artist Alejandro Romero aka Ópalo. His moniker had the intention to experiment with music that was not made for the dance floor as he already has another projects where he reflects his taste for danceable electronic music. 

In this album the artist experimented with field recordings and sounds from his every day life habits. This mixed in a sequential way where he tells a story of a mysterious traveller that has his own journey in the city life chaos. 

You can listen ambient experimentations with downtempo interludes that complement the album with rare idm gems.

ZATHRA - Refraktometria EP [MWTG003]

Refraktometria was produced by a two producers team from the ZATHRA collective: Internal Observer (@ntrnl-bsrvr) and 8R0 (@spoonworks). In the collective, they represent sounds oscillating around dark forms of dance music.

The produced tracks refer in their rawness to the industrial roots of techno. It is a trip full of loops of machine sounds, devoid of any unnecessary embellishments, and at the same time it lacks typical references to accepted standards. All tracks on this EP have been created in a way that leaves room for further sonic experimentation for any creative DJ. The direct inspiration for recording four tracks for this EP were images of light refraction of substances, the determination of whose coefficients is used to study their physicochemical properties. Hence its name - Refraktometria.

A head-spinning,140 BPM lofi-acid meets dancehall meets early-trance rumbler, the Bristol based artist's original version is as addictive as it is freaky.

Inland turns in a trippy hi-tech mix fusing dub-techno, bass and hardgroove stylings, while Ultrastation ( @nunodossantos & @cosmicforce of the excellent @sohaso label) distil a heads-down, stomping bassline fix for the warehouses.

In this EP, piaconcept and Lüma-G revisit the club with their respective artistic backgrounds.
One with her signature sound design borrowing from her IDM and lofi influences, the other with her rhythmic mastery of 90s house. Their common territory is jazz jazz, its rhythms and melodies, but above all its freedom of musical structure!

All continuity includes ruptures. The ocean teaches us that when the sea current is too strong, we must let ourselves be carried along. 

The A-side of the EP dismantles the traditional club structure to offer a version in which the artists allow themselves to break away from the sequencing system dance music. One could be mistaken for thinking that there are several tracks in one, but the ear is easily carried away by this game of questions and answers.

"Seasick" opens this EP with finesse, playing with resonance. Echo and reverb converse together to give body to a minimalist score. The gradual incorporation of a hat line in the second part puts the club back on course after a subtle introduction.

"Road to Socoa" promises to be a summer stopover between dubstep escapade and breakbeat, embellished by house vocals. The different patterns clash and end on an effective, sunny jungle drop.

After a complex immersion in the elements of club music, Lüma-G and piaconcept finally concentrate on rhythmic sequences on the B-side. 

"Galvanic Corrosion" is the remnant of a matured A-side with omnipresent textured percussion. An almost tribal groove punctuated by cosmic FX that impose themselves against a hypnotic lead. 

"Gravlaxed" closes the EP with a frenetic cocktail of ghetto, jersey and break inspirations.break.track inspirations, reflecting the way the two artists like to play both separately.

The “Seasick” remix by Azo flips the script on the original iconic track by Lüma-G and piaconcept, hitting hard with its club vibe and hardhouse inspiration. The lush pads are given a cosmic twist, with Azo’s signature acid line and strings thrown in to elevate the vibe. And that's how the track takes flight.
