This episode saw me mixing up my usual blend of genres, tempos and eras, with disco, funk, house and sleazy boogie all making an appearance. Lighter on the promos this fortnight as I’ve not had a chance to download the latest goodies, but one forthcoming tune from me in the mix. 

In the second hour I was incredibly excited to welcome a member of one of my favourite bands of all time, Derrick McKenzie. As Jamiroquai’s drummer he’s laid down the backing of some of the funkiest tracks ever recorded, and if that wasn’t enough he’s also a brilliant DJ and producer. I’ve been lucky enough to meet him a couple of times too and he’s a thoroughly lovely guy, and I’m thrilled that I’ve managed to talk him into doing a guest mix for my show! It’s a funky affair, filled with beautiful soulful house and funky nu-disco vibes.

Sarah Violet is a self-taught, fiery DJ and well known for her energy behind the decks.
Sarah has always been extremely supportive to the London DJ scene, this influenced and inspired her to learn how to DJ back in 2018.

Recognised for her knowledge in discovering fresh soulful-disco and funky house beats, along with Sarah’s ambition and determination, she has already made a name for herself.

Sarah has been found spinning for the following events; Ibiza Anthems Brunch at Q Shoreditch, ADE (Amsterdam Dance Event) 2019, Cafe Mambo @ McQueen London and SugarHut in Brentwood, Sisters of House Jin Bo Law Skybar & McQueen in Shoreditch, MiCasaEsTuCasa, Thirty3hz and for RAW underground events.

Sarah and her partner Clarkson are founders of 'DiscNoTheque' a Disco, Nu-Disco, Funky & Soulful House event with one rule...No Techno! With upcoming parties at Basing House in Shoreditch, Colours Hoxton and events in Hertford, their event is quickly becoming the talk of the disco town!

Sarah Violet also hosts a popular weekly Disco, Soulful, Funky House show called Rehab every Saturday 12pm-2pm on he UK's Number 1 Dance Music Station - Select Radio.

Episode 135: Feel Good Friday Radio Show (feat Sarah Violet)

It was my turn in the @discowaltons hot seat this week, taking over the controls for the first hour of the show, before handing over to our special guests, DJ duo from Hackney in London, Late Night Disco @latenightdisco

For the past 8 years LND have been filling dance floors up and down the country, bring their love of disco and feel-good edits while supporting heavy hitters such as Dave Lee, Dr Packer and Dimitri from Paris.

And with monthly and bi-monthly residencies at Number 90, Hackney Wick and Sushi Samba, these guys continue to build their reputation across the capital and beyond.
