I remember seeing some very strange lights in the sky over my house one night, and had been filling my ears and brain with the progressive sounds of the Ozric Tentacles after smoking one too many large ones...

This track came out of that. The sounds at the very beginning of the track are mouth noises!

An improvised solo jam based around a fundamentally ominous Korg M1 drone, analogue warblings on the Korg MS10 and Novation Bass Station, and pattern variants on the Yamaha RY30 drum machine.

Recorded at around 4AM in the dark hills of my old bedroom studio in a quarry outside the village of Kirkmichael, somewhere near a particularly spooky looking tree.

JoMol 1 (Live Improvisation)

Recorded directly to two-track analogue tape in 1997 and then minidisc in 1998, these four tracks were the first Listmaker demos to be sequenced using a Commodore Amiga 1200 running Bars & Pipes software, with real hardware synths and drum machines.

Originally written in three parts, then compiled into one long track lasting roughly the amount of time taken to drive between the Listmaker studio in the countryside near Kirkmichael and the Galaxis Quench marijuana den in the attic of a house in Ayr.

Myself and Quench were always searching for the ultimate sequenced 303 acid line. Traveller displays some of my early lengthy and self-indulgent experiments with the Control Synthesis Deep Bass Nine.

PANPOD 003: Re-Mastering Galaxis Quench by Mr Dimensional

Flyin' Saucepan is a DIY music label based in Ayrshire, created with the primary aim of cataloguing private music produced and collected by Mr Dimensional.

Going through the archives of previous bands, recordings, friends unreleased tracks and demos over the last 15 years, I realised that nobody (save for close friends and the neighbours) would ever hear any of it! I don’t have the cash or the resources to spend vast amounts of money and time putting together fancy marketing plans, but I know that some of the music sitting in my private collection is pretty interesting.

Some of the tracks are so old and raw that they just couldn’t be released for commercial gain, but I’d like to put them out there after spending some time with them to spruce them up a bit. And revisiting some of the tracks has brought about new creativity and re-versions where ideas were full of potential but never fully formed.

Flyin’ Saucepan is an excercise in categorisation, purging myself of the bad music which has been sitting around on my many hard drives for far too long and in the process, finding a place for the good stuff. Each release will be celebrated with the creation of an accompanying recipe to reflect the record release date, themes, locations, and just good fun!

It’s a label for the global recession. Everything’s £1 directly from the Bandcamp store. Be it individual tracks or the entire release. Except for physical products which will be hand made and homely, and may cost more simply to make. If the tracks are for sale elsewhere, they won’t cost £1. That’s because I can’t set the price myself, and I won’t even make £1 from the sale of the tracks.
