On 13th December 2021, Above & Beyond were on top of the world. Or, as high as you can get with a whole bunch of electronic equipment that needs to be carried up 708 steps to a summit 656 feet above sea level. The two time Grammy nominated London-based trio were performing on the summit of the Rock of Guatapé at La Piedra del Peñol Guatapé in Colombia, in a performance for live streaming platform Cercle.

The opening track was ‘Morning In Deira’. Not only was the rippling piano instrumental – a near-six-minute quiet-is-the-new-loud anthem – a freshly written composition from a beloved band, it would also be the flagship song for a new (ad)venture under the Anjuna umbrella; the company founded by Above & Beyond in 2000 to release their music and home to two labels, Anjunabeats and Anjunadeep.

Five months on, ‘Morning In Deira’, backed by another new Above & Beyond song ‘Time Heals’, is the launch release of Reflections. The songs deftly set the tone for this new, third label from the Anjunafamily. 

Reflections will be the home to the South London-based organisation’s ambient, downtempo and alternative catalogue, a fresh imprint that represents the “chill” arm of a suite of labels that are as prolific as they are successful.

Songwriters first, producers second, Above & Beyond’s unwavering commitment to their craft has fuelled a career that many electronic artists today might only dream of: four acclaimed studio albums, 14 compilation albums, two ‘acoustic’ albums, a stand-alone album for yoga and meditation and an original motion picture film score - not to mention innumerable club cuts and dance remixes.

We're thrilled to present "Always Be," to which three extraordinary artists, hailing from three different continents, contribute their superlative production and vocal talents: Elypsis (Australia), Arielle Maren (USA), and Vintage & Morelli (Serbia).

Having just celebrated the one-year anniversary of his first official release, Elypsis has already found a voice within the compositional niche of atmospheric and sensual deep-progressive electronic music. It seems to have been fateful, then, that he would link up with acclaimed veteran singer-songwriter Arielle Maren (also known for crafting poignant progressive anthems), with whom his musical chemistry is undeniable. Their original version offers listeners both a soothing and moving aural experience, thanks to the chilled, after-hours vibes of Elypsis' underlying instrumental, coupled with Arielle's gentle, yet heartfelt lyrics and reassuring refrain, "I'll always be... right here."

Veteran fans of our label (and trance & progressive house, in general) will not be surprised to see Serbian phenom Vintage & Morelli grace a single that features Arielle Maren, his frequent muse. He honors the rich musicality of Elypsis' production, as well as the emotional resonance of Arielle's lyrics and vocals, with an energized, blissful take. More specifically, the song begins with a punchy, ebullient groove, which casts a hopeful and radiant glow upon Arielle's vocals. Euphoric chords, kissed with just a twinge of melancholy, continue to permeate the soundscape, leading to the triumphant main breakdown, where a soaring piano theme and jubilant chords rapturously coalesce with Arielle's gorgeous vocal.

Colombian Gux Jimenez returns to our imprint in another solid pairing, this time with vocalist Maggie B. from Northwestern France. Pour Que Tu Restes, or "For You to Stay," mixes romantic motifs with those of a desire for an extended summer. 

The Original is a deep progressive cut with hypnotic embellishments of balearic nu-disco fever. Chilled grooves flow along a casual tempo, and a naked bassline, graced by Maggie B's surreal vocals, add ambient context to the audible beach narrative. 

Melodic progressive master Vince Forwards spins straw into gold with redefining, remarkable remixes that encapsulates the spirit of the Balearic Isles whilst captivating hearts abroad. Quintessential melodies spring forth from the rays of a rising sun and illuminate a beautiful world. Slow, heartfelt grooves, soft pads, vibraphonic notes, and an intimate breakdown provide an intoxicating atmosphere that will leave the listener yearning for more.

Having been a hot commodity for a while now in the world of melodic progressive, it's with great excitement we see the return of Z8phyR to Synth.
Pulling from classic artists such as Valentin, the SoCal-based producer has molded all his influences, creating a deeply textured, melodic style that's truly original and fresh.
Such is the case with these two new tracks that make up this release, 'Serenity/Tranquil', pieces that tick all the boxes in terms of fun, enjoyable, replayable music. The titles couldn't be any more fitting, as Z8phyR has created yet again a soundscape of Balearic comfort with its relaxed guitar strums, sunny vocals and detailed production. Truly a musical holiday.
