There's a track on Mechanism called Nine-ish that was heavily inspired by Nine Inch Nails, one of my favourite bands of all time. This track is even moreso as I'd been re-listening to the Fragile a few weeks ago, hence the continuation of the NIN/nine/9 wordplay.

We are Neurodivergent Crew, a collective of artists each fighting their own demons (DID, ADHD, Autism and Dyslexia). We had been ousted and sidelined because of how we are but we grew strong and this is our strike back!

FMA + 12 Gage are a multi-award-winning father and son rap duo from Preston. Made up of Matthew and Callum Bennett, the project initially began in 2013 as a way of helping Callum’s confidence but snowballed into something that neither of them could have predicted. Their music is built around creative lyrics and tightly woven, imaginative dual vocals. Combining the aggression of metal and the verbal skills of hip-hop with the energy of youth and the experience of age, they create hybrid songs that are a fusion of high energy rap, electronic, metal and dance music.

They have performed all over the country, written for award-winning TV shows and films, and have also featured on TV Asahi in Japan and other worldwide streaming services. In 2019 they were chosen to be the face of the Give us a break anti bullying campaign and their charity song Spectrum gained nationwide coverage. A common phrase heard at any of their performances is, ‘I don’t normally like rap, but I liked that!’ Energy, skill and passion transcends genres. 

The pair face many mental health difficulties that stem from Autism and Dyslexia and they use their creations as a way of expression and to combat the issues that they both deal with in their day to day lives. They have given talks on the benefits of creativity on mental health and have been invited to speak in schools, prisons and at health conferences about their struggles. Helping others is an important part of what they do.

FMA + 12 Gage are a glimpse of reality in a world of insanity. They don’t write about money, drugs or women, they write about the darkness inside their minds.
