As soon as I heard the massive-sounding snares in Toontrack's new Rock Solid EZX (recorded by Randy Staub) I wanted to try them in a heavy mix context. I made this drum mix based around that idea, blending my favourite kit elements from the Avatar, Metal Machine and Metal Foundry packs in there too.

An old Sig9 song that was one of my favorites.  Never got a chance to track it, til now.  Used the HD500 again. Uber model on the left and Soldano on the right. Was going for a thicker guitar sound on this one and wasn't concerned so much with clarity. I think the Soldano muddied it up just enough.

So this is the clip that I had been talking about revisiting with a new mix on fb the other day.

According to soundclick, I originally uploaded this in Nov of 2005.  Man, that feels like another lifetime, but I thought these riffs were actually pretty fun, so I figured it would be a good opportunity to test out Axefx II Firmware 10 in a mix context!

Maybe I'll post up the rhythm patch sometime soon.
