Mikron are two English brothers, Michael & Ciaran Corcoran, living in Australia. Following on from their impressive No Correlation EP on The Hacker & Gesaffelstein’s ZONE Records in 2014, Sleep Paralysis brings a level of darkness to the CPU roster we’ve not heard since the likes of Source Direct. Harsh, hard hitting electro bass similar to that of Black Narcissus, overdriven, tape saturated 808 beats, with raw robotic funk leads seemingly conversing throughout.

"The sound of CPU reflects Sheffield's musical heritage, forged with that of Detroit Techno and Braindance (Rephlex et al.) But there's a strong syncopated beat influence over the curation which has dominated, hence CPU being known and lauded as an electro imprint.

Another thing you will notice about CPU is the stark and brutal sleeve designs. Each sleeve has an 8-bit binary* catalogue number** on the front centred in an Alien-esque logo, the number being the only thing that visually distinguishes each release.

This mix contains upcoming releases, demos and unreleased tracks on CPU and its sub-label Computer Club, a more experimental branch which also doubles as a club night in Sheffield. I think the mix gives a clear representation of the label and its direction. It was an absolute pleasure to do as I rediscovered some old favourites during the process. I hope you enjoy it and check out the label sometime.

Alek Stark is responsible for some of the finest boutique vinyl releases available. His 808 boxes, DMX drum machine replica and plexi-glass sleeves for Fundamental Records are legendary in the electro fraternity.

Stark's attention to detail in everything he does is particularly apparent in his music - his tracks are all first class analogue electro. He pulls no punches on this E.P. with heavy 808 percussion alongside a myriad of modular noise and synth workouts.

Cold, robotic and reminiscent of early Psyche / BFC with deep chorused pads creating an off-world dystopian theme that runs throughout this release.
