"I made a mix that showcases some of my favourite tracks which go across all the decades I've been listening to dance music. Including one of the first house tracks I ever heard - that inspired me to make music ('Love & Happiness') - through to the genre that inspired me the most - UK garage, and then some early dubstep and footwork — with a couple of unreleased tracks of my own thrown in too."

For me, Burning Man signifies entering a dimension of freedom and maximum expression, a place where I can take risks but also the ideal spot to play my favorite music, not necessarily dance music. I remember finishing my set at the camp where I had set up, then biking under the scorching sun towards DISTRIKT. A pleasant sandstorm swept over me as I pedaled to reach the opposite side of the playa... the magic fueled by a small bottle of mezcal and there I am at the controls of one of my favorite sound camps... I cherish these moments, the scents, the embraces, the gazes, and smiles of the audience. Music is magic, but even more so, a mystery!

Luca Bacchetti - DISTRIKT - Burning Man 2023

This was the first ever sunrise set at DISTRIKT and our first visit to DISTRIKT.
Together with everybody who was present, we had a musical flight that took off in pitch black darkness and soared into the rising orange sun. It was a unique experience and certainly one we’ll never forget. Thank you for dancing and sharing this moment together!

Carl Cox - DISTRIKT - Burning Man 2023

sunflwr produces dreamy house music for the dance floor, living room or late night drive. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, Lucas Hanson grew up playing bass and piano. He began exploring electronic music in his late teenage years with influences from artists like the Gorillaz, Little Dragon & Bonobo appreciating the blend between the avant-garde, an indie aesthetic and pop. Hanson studied music in New York falling in love with the house music scene there. He began to DJ and produce with a new focus on uptempo songs. After graduation and moving to Los Angeles in 2017 the artist took a hiatus from consistent musical output getting lost in a new career in tech and adjusting to the new changes in life. Striking up a new connection to his artwork and a daily commitment to produce Hanson rediscovered his love of music and personal expression through it. The music started pouring out as ‘sunflwr’ in 2020 in high output. He has since released seven EPs, several singles, remixes and collaborations and become a recognizable player in the lofi house scene with his signature bright, emotive, deep and sun kissed sound. sunflwr is this week's guest #OnTheRecord

I have been attending Burning man for 7 years each year I definitely spend some decent amount of time raving at DISTRIKT always hoping to play the following year, so finally when Ben asked me to play I was super excited. I had the best time playing! the sound is incredible and the vibe is like nothing else. Hopefully, this will be the first of many playing at Distrikt 😁❤
