FNOOB DiGiTAL presents Chicago Beats, a new compilation of no-nonsense, straight-ahead 4/4 techno from seven of Chicago's finest underground producers.

This compilation begins intensely with 'Latenight on 290' by DJ Amar, with its snappy bass kick and punchy synth. Slightly more ominous, dark and discordant sounding is 'Unicorn' by Drew Sky of Chicago Techno Brigade, with assistance from Taigo Onez, a frequent collaborator with Lester Fitzpatrick, also of CTB. Jerome Baker then follows with a spacious, echo filled entry with throbbing bass on his track, 'Ticket Day'.

The sound shifts to a funkier ghettotech exercise in chordal stabs, claps and “jack that big booty” vocal sample in Josh Moseley’s “DigDug”. This is followed by “Starlight”, a surprisingly trippy endeavor awash in echo, reverb, oscillator sweeps and electric piano with just a taste of house flavor from Lester Fitzpatrick. The sound resumes with a more sober drum machine and bass synth feel when Taigo Onez returns with “Faces”. Tim Vitek finishes the compilation with “Fighting Lines”, a sunrise track with slippery, melodic acid, synth chords, and claps on the 2 and 4.

FNOOB DiGiTAL presents SubTerr, a new techno release with just a taste of electro atmosphere from ifihadahifi, an old veteran of the London squat party scene currently living in northeast England. This laid-back, 125 BPM track begins with a burst of echoey acid and chirpy Kraftwerk snare, proceeding forward with judicious use of sine bass kick and many layers of rhythmic chord hits to build into a subtle groove reminiscent of releases by Nina Kraviz or later Adam Beyer.
  This release comes with six remixes, starting with dyLAB's straight-ahead 4/4 take on the original, followed by a dubby, stripped down mix from Marvin Jarvis. Nick Del's mix takes the subtraction to a further extreme with a remix that starts with a deep, noisy solo kick, blossoming into arpeggiated bliss. Primitive Fingerprint brings forth another dubby mix with filter sweeps and a synth drone punctured by compressor keyed to a tight, snappy kick. Orphan renders a dark, echoey mix barely hinting at the original. Mark Neenan wraps up the release with a heavy pounding, ring modded, 137 BPM peak hour offering.

FNOOB DiGiTAL presents _Vandalism_, five tracks worth of heavy pounding 
dystopian soundscapes with just a kiss of industrial edge from 
Paderborn, Germany techno producer Julian Morawe.

Mr. Morawe brings influence from his background as a guitarist in 
hardcore punk and noise music, and it shows in his sound design for the 
tonal and percussive sounds. He lists a number of different inspirations 
in this work, among them brutalist architecture, midwestern American 
techno, science fiction, and, interestingly, the randomness of quantum 
physics. Here's what he has to say about the title: 'For me vandalism 
stands for the idea of making negative and destructive music or art and 
creating very positive vibes with it!'

The title track features a leaden kick and discordant pads building into 
phrenetic claps and hi-hats in a pulsating peak hour banger. Track 2, 
'Vertical City', maintains high pressure and a throbbing kick but goes a 
bit more hypnotic, with polyrhythmic acid synth playing off a 4/4 
kick-snare pattern. The third track, 'Your Future', is bathed in reverb 
and sequence. 'Radiance', track 4, backs off of the synth, bringing 
focus back to the kick and percussion. The final track, 'Anima', comes 
with a fluttering percussive synth that provides flavorful sound design 
and a fitting conclusion to this release.

FNOOB DiGiTAL's latest techno release, 'Morphing Imagination', goes dark and trippy, perhaps a little trancey. Producer Kev Willis hails from Stoke-On-Trent, UK, with previous releases on numerous labels, among them Gabeen's Switch Off Records as well as the American label Urban Kickz Recordings. Kev is known to create music for catharitic purposes, and this release has the feeling of ritual.

The original mix of 'Morphing Imagination' swells with layered complexity, fading in with heavy kick over arpeggiated synth, subtly fading in hi-hats, then tuned percussion (Are those bongos or marimbas?), echo laden patches of noise, and is that acid in the far background? Also lurking in the darkness are haunting vocals contributed by Sheena Bratt, lead singer of the UK based folk rock band Venus Rising.

Two remixes come with this release. Buenos Aires-based techno producer Juan Trujillo contributes a mix that maintains the subtle transitions of the original but strips out much of the synth, turning the focus to a pulsating percussion field. The second remix comes from Gabros, a Hungarian veteran of numerous releases on Naked Lunch Records. His mix explodes with pounding industrial kick drum, claps, and metallic percussion, taking the synths and turning them into a body music workout.

FNOOB DiGiTAL bring you the relentless pounding of industrial techno in their latest release, Black Clouds Leave Death, featuring Nova Scotia based producer The Unjust, who comes armed with a barrage of abrasive, punk and metal influenced sound design. This release was set into motion this past winter after a broken leg left our producer with a large amount of time and boredom to alleviate inside of Ableton Live. The results were ground-shaking.

Beginning with droning bass synth and noise blasts resembling cymbal crashes or perhaps explosions, the title track patiently builds to a storm of 4/4 distorted kick drum with sharp transient, followed by not your average set of hi-hats and percussive metal. The remix, featuring a stalwart of the Italian industrial techno scene, Bleim01, takes the original and substitutes broken-beat kicks for four-on-the-floor, as well as a more pulsating feel to the hi-hat patterns.

Next track, 'Blood Tears of Angels', begins atonally with a noisy, slow, pitched-down kick drum, crash cymbal sounding like a truck's air brake, and a wall of monstrous, reverberating growl, pierced by a reversed cymbal and again commencing in 4/4 distorted kick. Layers and layers of assorted jangles, mechanical belches, hi-hats, and a minimal melody emanating from tortured, overdriven synth signals follow. This track's remix features the Delhi, India based duo A Birth Defect, who clean up the noise in the original but leave a stroboscopic, pulsing residue.

The third track, 'Funeral Forest', maintains the heavy kick of the first two tracks but introduces melody on rapidly modulating synth, as well as flashes of breakbeat, all with characteristically inventive sound design. Moscow-based techno producers Wunderblock deliver a more atonal, rhythmically based take on the original, drawing the sound closer to a 4/4 feel with extensive use of hi-hats.

FNOOB DiGiTAL  presents eight tracks of raucous, heavyweight techno from Puglia, Italy's Francesco Giannese, accompanied by remixes from Portugal's DJ Ze MigL, the Berlin-based duo known as Resistohr, Fnoob Techno Radio favorite Michael D. Knox, and Manchester, New Hampshire denizen and Fnoob resident DJ DoubleUngood.

Title track from the EP, 'Unacknowledged', runs at a furious 146 BPM with a ferocious kick and rhythms recalling late '90s UK hard acid. The second track, 'I Can't Feel My Body', drops the tempo and brings up the overdriven 303. 'Neon Brain' brings an arpeggiated synth that brings to mind late '80s body music; 'Ketch Date', the final track, pulsates with sixteenth notes, hi-hats, claps, and a lurking, ominous synth sequence.

This release comes with four remixes. DJ Ze MigL brings us a slower, midwest-US flavored take on 'Unacknowledged'. Resistohr similarly contributes a remix of 'I Can't Feel My Body' that conjures up the fiercer side of Chicago house. Michael D. FNOOB DiGiTAL is back with overdriven vengeance. 
Release number 28, entitled The Firelight Fox, comes from Leeds-based producer Loser, AKA Andy Wags of The Music Institute radio show on Leeds's Chapel FM. 
Loser surprises us here with a winning combination of flavors: a little bit of Detroit at its hardest, a little bit of late-90s Birmingham grit, and a substantial dose of dirty bass.
The first track, "Acid Alvin", comes at us with a rising synth glissando and an overdriven 303 spiraling through a 909 kick and clap straight from the Dave Clarke Red series playbook. 
(Yes, you've heard it before. But would you really want it any other way?) 
Acid growls and weaves. Hi-hat sizzles. Bodies move.
FNOOB Techno Radio's own Callum Watson offers a divergent, atonal take on "Acid Alvin"  
Pulsing 808 claves and a Dave Smith Mopho swapped for the 303 push the track into new but accessible territory.
"Northern Throb" represents truth in advertising with its thick bass rumble, claps and hats, as well as an arpeggiated synth reminiscent of dark mid-80s body music and proto-techno. 
Strategic use of discordant note combinations drive the tension further. This track will mentally alter an audience on a large club sound system.

FNOOB DiGiTAL welcomes back midwestern techno stalwart DJ D-ReDD, bringing four new tracks to us from his studio in East St. Louis. 
This is D-ReDD's second release on FNOOB DiGiTAL, and also has previous releases on the American label Urban Kicks Recordings, the St. Louis label Anode Records, the Dutch label Frame Workxx, and D-ReDD's own labels, Eargazim 14 and Ghetto Hitz.

The dark, echo-laden title track of the EP per D-ReDD was inspired by a NASA documentary. 
These four tracks definitely deliver the vibe of the future that was; four-on-the-floor kick and hi-hat patterns nonchalantly journey forward at 132 BPM through modulated synth percussion recalling flavors of Adam X's Traversable Wormhole project, 
yet still maintain a foot on planet Chicago with looping, eight and sixteen step sequences bringing to mind Lil' Louis & DJ Pierre.

This EP comes with three remixes of 'Moon Rockets'. 
Jambalay Records boss El Brujo turns up the tempo to 138 and disassembles the track, starting with only kick and closed hat, adding splashes of ambient noise and a rearranged version of the original sequence. 
Makaja Gonzales, owner of the Frame Workxx label, takes the tempo down to 130 and pumps the bass up in a dubby affair with more clever rearrangement of the original loops, even throwing in a couple of snare drum buildups that somehow don't seem forced. 
To finish things off, Mark Neenan of Filth Infatuated delivers a uniquely dirty UK hard acid flavored workout of a remix.

FNOOB DiGiTAL release 30 comes in hard and heavy on the sci-fi tip with chief techno basement dweller Michael D. Knox's latest offering, "The Cube". 
You can hear him on Mondays on the Atmospheric Disturbance show on Fnoob Techno Radio, and if you have, you know that he has little patience for that which does not move bodies.

Running at 140 BPM, "The Cube" begins with an overdriven 4/4 kick, hi-hats on the sixteenths, and a flood of bass rumble that give way to vocal sample and an infectious melodic hook. 
Ravey and energetic, this is a track for peak hour sets for crowds who can appreciate a heavy techno workout.
