King of Kings EP is a reminiscence of a period (1980 - 1991), prior to the economic liberalization of India. A closed economy with nearly 200% tariffs or outright bans on all foreign electronic equipment’s including synthesizers, sequencers, drum machines and computers due to west’s antagonizing behavior towards India for not opening its market for foreign colonial corporate actors.

This did not deter musicians to get their hands on the machines despite all the stumbling blocks placed in front of them. Defiance and persistence gave birth to Indian acid and electro synth pop created under our own terms becoming not only father of the machines once we couldn’t own but with our playful ragas giving birth to genres such as acid house.

India thus opened another node in the global cultural flows of electronic music. Cumulatively, this period contributed to the triumph of import substitution in cultural production. An attitude was born to why import when we can make it on our own. A major shift in a mind colonised and slaved for 400 yrs.

This an honest attempt to show the world, how Indian musicians undeterred by barriers made their own mark with western synthesizers and drum machines while staying true to their ethnic identity. A period of Computer Love.

“King of Kings” which translates literally from Tamil (Rajadhi Raja) is a true endeavor to demonstrate to the world how Indian musicians have overcome racial and political boundaries to achieve their sonic mission of expressing our artistic autonomy filled with purpose, perseverance and avant-garde excitement. A musical piece that aims to represent the idea, “In order to become who you are, you need to first overcome who it is they said you are”. A true King of Kings.

Alejandro Gamba is the mastermind behind the Cosmosolar project. The veteran Argentinian producer, whose first endeavours in the underground electronic music realm commenced more than twenty years ago, successfully manages to bring together the many influences he has amassed during such a spell in order to deliver his vision of dance-floor-oriented underground electronic music. EBM, New Wave, Post-Punk, Techno, Trance, and House come together and give birth to an interesting concoction issued on vital Indie Dance/Dark Disco platforms such as Phisica, Logia, Maleante, NEIN, Discos Prohibidos, Modula, and Espacio Cielo, just to name a few. He is now back on the latter with the “Immaginazione” EP featuring two fresh originals and their respective reinterpretations made with love by master Parissior (SXDNS206) and promising Size M.

With a discography still in the dawn of its trajectory, Size M debuts on the Spanish powerhouse with an intelligent take on “Misterio En La Disco”. Aiming the peak time, he managed to keep most of the main elements of the solid original in his rework, including the frolic gait, and paved the way to the injection of more stamina by spicing things up with the increase of the BPM from 120 to 125. The addition of extra arpeggios, synth layers, and speech-like vocals resulted in a proper showcase of his capabilities and inventiveness. Let’s keep an eye on the lad, shall we?

Let’s head back to 83 and then fast forward till today. Now we got Kay-Chi up for a brilliant EP. This Greek knows his way around hardware synthesizers. That’s for sure!

One might think that “Back To 83” refers to a specific year when the music was extra good or perhaps some childhood memories. While all of that may be true, what happened in 83 was the introduction of the Roland JX-3P synthesizer. And now you wonder, why is this relevant? Well, obviously because the track was made using that synthesizer, duh!

To make matters even more interesting, we invited another hardware guru to do one of the remixes, Italo Brutalo. And among these two hardware heroes, our label boss Marcus managed to sneak his way into both a remix and a collab, despite being fully digital.

Back To 83 is everything you can expect from a classic italo track. It has a super catchy and playful upbeat melody, a robot voice and a female talking about synthesizers. And there’s a very summery vibe about the whole track.

Marcus remix keeps the best of 83 and amplifies it with a bit of modern attitude, and perhaps you could call it some “soundtrack-y” chords too.

If Back To 83 was happy and summery, then “Life In A Loop” missed the exit to the summer resort and just kept going north. This one has a bit more grit, intricate arpeggios and powerful synthesizers. Combine that with poetic vocals from Kally Voo that carry a lot of attitude. Voilà!

And for Italo Brutalo’s remix on Life In A Loop, we once again find robot voices!(!!!) Together with his powerful and catchy synth lead, this remix takes more of an anthemic turn. And we love it! And wow, that kick really packs a punch!

Sinchi Music returns with an eleventh volume of its influential Altered States series featuring artists from all over the world.

All sales from this not-for-profit release will be donated to the Sinchi Foundation to support Indigenous forest guardians in the Brazilian Amazon.

Sinchi Music has always excelled at curating talent from across the world in its eclectic and forward-thinking Altered States series. In its previous ten volumes, it has platformed exciting new artists from the musical spectrum. Number eleven carries on that fine tradition.

It opens with Itzik Kadi, who is inspired by the timeless sounds of the legendary Motown. He specialises in infusing classics with an electronic twist and opens up with the brilliant 'Jasmino'. It's a house cut with eerie melodies and a grinding bassline that makes for an intriguing atmosphere.

Next up is Bonïpso, co-founder of the Agoya collective and electronic duo Amonavis, aka Pierre Bonizec and John Hassell. Between them on 'Hide & Seek', they merge industrial, dark disco and house into an other-worldly sound.

Milan-based Irene Radice reworks electronic tradition through a modern perspective, and her tracks have received support from the likes of Sasha and BBC Radio 1. Her L' Alma' is a tripped-out disco chugger with airy melodies and a bubbling bassline that is full of colour.

Tierra de Ovnis is a musical project from Jesus Cuevas Leon which blends electronic indie sounds with the energy and culture of this homeland Mexico. On 'Stargate', that takes the form of a mind-melting mix of warped vocals and deep, punchy drums, snappy hits and otherworld disco vibes that will get the dance-floor moving.

Keep Me In The Light is a dynamic Scottish artist now based in Bangkok with a passion for the retro sounds of the 80s and 90s, Italo, disco and indie house. His 'Equestrian Space Powder' is a rich world of electro-tinged rhythms and moody chords that are lit up with a rueful lead synth which carries you into the unknown.

Last but not least, Lithuanian-born Klimas brings nostalgia to his work and mixes up Italo, new wave, and new beat, minimal techno, electro and has released on the likes of Whypeopledance. On '1 2 Cha', he layers up a fantastically flabby bassline with dubbed-out drums, cowbells, and zippy synth leads for a party-starting disco on a distant planet.
