Jump up drum&bass got a bad rep for a while, back in the mid-tens, with hordes of teenagers screwfacing and gurning to screechy bass and simple two-step drums at 180bpm. But that same scene matured and spawned some of the most interesting producers the genre boasts today, just think of the likes of Bou, Turno, Hedex, Upgrade and more. Enter Maze, a young cat that used to get his gurn on in the dungeons of the Belgian jump-up and took his first steps into producing backed by Low Down Deep, and has since developed a style very much his own and very hard to pin down. All 3 tracks on his first EP for Radar show a desire for experimentation, craftmanship when it comes to sound design and an at-easness when it comes to dancefloor. Just like previous Radar Records alumni that went on to do great things, we feel Maze is very much on that path too.

Simskai “Instruments” 
If you like knocking fluttering jump up, this bit is for you. With a classic retro movie sample in the intro, the detuned synth work stabs about creating this grade A banger and title track.

Simskai “Monster”
Innocent and happy festival vibes kick start this track dropping into filthy madness. Behold Simskai’s weighty drums and captivating, chunky bassline.

Simskai “Weird”
This squelcher boasts fuzzy frequencies and an almost three dimensional bass ringing around rave. More riding drums and clever percussion make this roller easy to fit into your set or playlist. 

Simskai & Mavu “Energy”
Engaging atmospherics and searing synths continue to further spread the theme of this EP. Now with Mavu in the studio we bear witness to a funky yet crushing track, with an alarming horn signaling the incoming doom. 

Simskai & Solix “Lights Out”
Exciting from the jump, the rattling basslines are enough to shake your rib cage make your grandmother cringe in fear. Solix’s style fused with Simskai’s production techniques do not go unnoticed on this versatile dance floor banger with dueling bass stabs taunting each other back and forth.
