hi y'all, nicky tunes back w another tune (:

it's been a while but i have been VERY busy and also not busy at all with a lot of things... but the track first. this is a french house tune i made for fun a few days ago (9/1/2022) (: this genre was a STAPLE of my listening throughout middle school and high school and has seriously shaped my music taste. Justice and SebastiAn were huge inspirations to me getting into music production and i wanted to make french house my first few years of production (and failed a lot bc it is a hard genre to produce when u dont rly use compression lol). it's been rly fun revisiting it like 4-5 years later though and i love how it turned out! loads of compression and OTT rly brought the track to life and i feel like that's been the key to pushing my tracks and my style to its limits.

in other news, i finished my job a week ago and i am sad ): i miss my buddies but i ALSO don't miss getting up at 7 and moving tables all day (i guess. it wasnt that bad). but i made some wonderful wonderful friends this summer and i am thinking of them every day <3

which is the other thing; i moved into my dorm TODAY! senior year (: my roommate seems nice and while i am exhausted and anxious, i'm excited for this year. it should be good. but that means i had to say goodbye to jack and my siblings which is hard... ya. this past week has just been hard in general. sleep has been really difficult and i can feel myself slinking bakc into covid habits. but hopefully that ends since im on campus now and will be walking around and talking to a lot of people everyday. but we will see.

i'm nervous but hopeful for the future.and my album is a little stuck but it becomes more complete to me everyday (:

long time no see!

it has been a while since i uploaded here but i have been SOOO busy with schoolwork and havent had a lot of time for music, including my album ): while all the songs i do have are basically done (mixed + mastered, just need a little polishing (also 8 trax!)), i want 9 tracks because i need one for narrative reasons. but for whatever reason track 4 just isnt coming to me at ALL. 

in a lot of ways, it's just the fear of coming back to music and being bad. and in others, it's because i'm  too busy (and otherwise too tired) to have the consistent work ethic which lets me make music at my highest level. these are also excuses because it's mostly fear, but they're factors, too. idk! it's just challenging and i know i need to just make more music and find that last idea but i've been struggling a lot with it, which is partially why i uploaded this beat LOL

this one is from the summer. i made it on 7/4/2022 and basically jsut touched it up/mastered i think within the week. ive just been holding it as a contender for the album, but having listened to it today i figured it doesn't fit and isn't really up to the standards i hold myself to now (which are constantly moving upwards. good and bad thing!).  but it's a fun one! just some burial, future garage style stuff and playing with/studying more texture and compression.

also thanks johny for the title. you said it would be named chicago and chicago it is. i get what you mean.
