Turtles have been revered in diverse ancient cultures worldwide for their serene nature, patience, and profound wisdom. Symbolizing longevity, stability, and resilience owing to their enduring lifespans, leisurely pace, sturdy presence, and weathered countenance, they stand as a universal emblem of these virtues.

Through this composition, the intention is to convey a sense of ease, a gentle continuation within life's current, urging us to embrace the art of meditation.

Ancients

Sona Jobarteh, born in 1983, is a composer, singer and instrumentalist of Gambian and English origin. She is the first female professional kora player. She has spent a lot of time in England and Gambia mixing African heritage and European education in her work. Unlike many of her contemporaries, she explores and develops the roots of traditional African music rather than trying to merge it with more contemporary approaches, hip-hop, rock or jazz. In addition to the kora, she sings and plays the guitar.
