Found an old upright piano left out on the side of Hayes Street. It was a drizzly Wednesday in the late afternoon and I couldn't help but stop to play. Half the keys were broken, and the surface of the piano was coated in dirt and dry leaves. As I felt out the instrument and let it guide my playing, I found that age and disrepair had lent an idiosyncratic charm to the haunting timbre and the limited sonic range. Inspired and guided by the worn, weathered character, I created this "decomposition."
