A Little While Longer: a longing for a brief moment in time. A thought back to days past and time spent with loved ones or friends. What we do with the brief moment we have in this life. What we decide is important enough to spend it on.

It’s been more than four years since Lenzman’s last project on The North Quarter. During his absence the label has hardly struggled, continuing to demonstrate its relevance with a roster of diverse and exciting international artists. This has set the stage for his welcome and long awaited return home with ‘A Little While Longer’.

Written over a space of three months, it tackles the emotions and challenges of a total change of rhythm and routine, frustrated confinement and overcoming a void in inspiration. In the end it was once again his close family that inspired his creativity and process.

This body of work was brought together by the use of old recordings and found sound, sampling bespoke piano pieces and through collaboration, as well as forever finding his inner thoughts and feelings as his primary guide. This brief moment in time might feel more like an interlude, but it's an extended one that shows off Lenzman's signature brand of Hip Hop influenced Drum & Bass music.

As summer begins to dwindle and the days become shorter, it’s nice to know that there are still some tunes coming through that will bring a bit of sunshine into your life. Take Roy Green & Protone’s forthcoming EP release, “Jazzypansts”, as one fine example, and coincidentally the next release from the Innerground camp.

Next up is the title track “Jazzypants”. Featuring the strong and unmistakeable sound of an upright bass strung in amongst some staccato beats and a minimal overall sound, this is a quintessential dancefloor killer.

The DNBB revival releases continue with this timeless groove quartet from Lurch. Classic soulful drum & bass laced with space and restraint, each cut still crushes hearts and dancefloors.... The jazzy introspection on "Someday", the cosmic ebbs and flows of "Never You Mind", the poignant mistiness and sultry steps of "A Sadness" and the feel-good piano-slapping on "Head Over Heels" all still hit home just as perfectly and authentically as they did in 2014. Manchester artists KinKai and Akemi Fox join forces with Amsterdam's Lenzman, releasing two remixes to raise money and awareness for Black Minds Matter UK and Justice for Shukri Abdi on the 19th of June, joining Bandcamp in their Juneteenth campaign.

Released exclusively via The North Quarter's Bandcamp all profit for Lenzman's remixes of KinKai's “Plantain & Champagne (feat. Saffron Grace) and Akemi Fox's “Fallin” will go to these UK charities, one of which is making mental health topics relevant and accessible for all black people in the UK, while the other is seeking justice for the tragic death of 12 year old Shukri Abdi. Black lives matter, black lives have always mattered. It's time for change. If not now, then when.
