In late 2020 Satl captured the global mood perfectly with his dense and claustrophobic masterpiece ‘Lucid Dreams’. This summer, he flips the script, channeling hope and optimism on a six-track EP – Bedroom Producer with a Dream - a rose-tinted self-reflection, perfectly suited for the summer.  

The contrast between projects shows how effortlessly versatile Satl’s productions can be. He perfectly blends influences from Jazz, Hip Hop and Electronica as he connects with vocalists DRS and T.R.A.C. as well as Auckland producer Tokyo Prose. The project shows off his growing refinement and maturity as a producer who has a great future ahead of him.

 “This project is a reflection of my story as producer. Recently I’ve been looking back at how much I have grown as an artist over the years. From making music in my bedroom to being able to live off of music and playing it all around the world,” Satl explains. “This EP is about that journey: the ups and the downs. Since its early stages I knew I wanted to involve some of my favourite people and I’m really happy with how everything came together. From the vocal talents of DRS & T.R.A.C. to production assist from New Zealand's finest: Tokyo Prose. Some of the tracks feature beautiful piano improvisations by talented Leon Cronie which I re-programmed or completely chopped up. I can only say that I'm really proud of this piece of work.”

Melodic master and drum & bass extraordinaire Etherwood makes his album debut on Hospital Records with his fourth long player, ‘Neon Dust’, following on from the successes of his Med School works ‘In Stillness’, ‘Blue Leaves’, and ‘Etherwood’. Across twenty tracks, expect signature liquid drum & bass and Etherwood’s own vocal performances with a fusion of folk, rock, indie-pop, techno, downtempo and ambient delights. Alongside his vast range of musical inspiration, Etherwood’s creativity is evoked through his free spirited mindset, exploring the world in his converted van, dedicated to mindfulness and meditation.

Etherwood and Zara Kershaw present their latest liquid ballad ‘Lighthouse’, a collaboration that will light up the hearts of drum & bass lovers around the world following their powerhouse classic ‘Souvenirs’. This 2021 edition oozes with euphoria and soul with Zara’s enchanting vocals and a smooth amen break coming together to create a jubilant drum & bass masterpiece.

With a nod back to some of his most popular productions like ‘Cast Away’ and ‘Fire Lit Sky’, the irresistibly nostalgic ‘Dahlia’ sees Etherwood’s signature melodies and chord progressions perfectly intertwined. ‘Caliban’ warms the soul with ambient soundscapes, illustrious synth swells, hypnotising vocal chops and crisp rolling drums. Plus, the melodic techno gem ‘Belorama’ that’s destined for the depths of club basements and 5am festival fields.

Embracing his love for alt-pop and indie-electronic styles, ‘Follow The River’ rides through the 140BPM territories welcoming the multitalented Lily Budiasa. Based out of the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia, Lily also features on ‘Neon Dust’ and ‘Underwater’ and fronts the ambient-folk band TH’FIKA. ‘Follow The River’ is emotive, raw and inspirational with sensual guitar alongside folk-style vocals.

‘We Shine Among The Lights’ is a skippy rock ballad, shining a light on Etherwood’s versatile prowess as a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Distorted electric guitars and flanger-drenched drums lay the foundations for Etherwood’s dreamlike vocal harmonies. Not shy of switching up his sound, ‘Water In Your Veins’ and ‘Okusha’ lie at the other end of the spectrum - beautifully stripped back downtempo ambience that elevates the senses.

Other notable moments include the collaboration with the legendary DRS on ‘The Current’, joining forces with Fred V on ‘Nebula’ and working alongside Toronto-based Sigrún Stella on ‘Swans.

With frequent radio support from top-end tastemakers including Annie Mac, MistaJam and Charlie Tee, as well as countless club spins from the likes of Netsky, Sub Focus, Makoto, Degs and Lens, Etherwood’s hugely popular sound takes another step forward in 2021 with his most recent body of work. From topping the iTunes Electronic chart with his second album ‘Blue Leaves’ to performing his very own live session at the prestigious Maida Vale studios, you’ll also be able to find Etherwood at Hospitality Weekend In The Woods, Sundown Festival 2021, ADE Hospitality and Hospitality Bristol this year.

Hospital Record’s soulful drum & bass legend Makoto returns to the South London imprint with his latest 5-track beauty. His ‘What You Need’ EP is a stunning reflection of how he continues to infuse his jazz, soul and funk influences amongst the sounds of jungle and drum & bass with a 2021 twist. With a jaw dropping list of collaborators on the EP including a remix from DJ Marky, [ K S R ], Vonné, Missing and Danny Wheeler, Makoto has stepped up once again with some of his strongest work to date after spending time in his home of Japan in recent months.

Sampling the legendary American blues singer Z. Z. Hill’s ‘Sweet Woman By Your Side’ in EP title track ‘What You Need’, Makoto brings the warm and heartfelt sounds of the early 1970s into the modern day realms of drum & bass. Accompanied by the stunningly powerful vocals of Vonné who has supplied powerhouse toplines on Hospital anthems such as Fred V’s ‘Away’, Mitekiss’ ‘Matter’ as well as backing vocals on Makoto’s ‘Spread Love’ anthem released earlier this year, an upfront collaboration with both soul music extraordinaires might just be exactly what you need.

Following on from his widely loved cover of ‘Spread Love’ featuring Pete Simpson earlier this year which saw frequent support from DJ Marky, London Elektricity, Nu:Tone and more, Makoto continues to deliver outstanding contributions to the world of drum & bass. With a discography packed with liquid-soul classics and two albums under his belt on Hospital, his ‘What You Need’ EP is a stellar addition to Makoto’s flawless release history.

You ever hear jungle breaks echoing through an empty parking garage at 3 a.m.? That’s what this is for. Mean Streets is built for late-night runs and lost causes. It's a drum and bass tribute to the golden age of the PlayStation, back when everything felt faster, dirtier, realer. Back when we were still counting polygons kid. 

Think Wipeout 2097, Ridge Racer, Need for Speed. This is the sound of busted-up jungle drum and bass straight from a memory card left in the rain.

Yeah, there's liquid DnB in here, even some future garage, the kind that creeps in when the streets are empty and the rain won’t stop and you can't get those damned memories outta your head. But don’t get it twisted kid, the heart of this record is that early-2000s jungle mayhem. The stuff that came out of blown speakers and off bootleg discs. That sound that made you drive too fast and care too little.

So here’s your induction, rookie. The Mean Streets don’t care who you are. But if you’re gonna race out here, you better have the right soundtrack. And now, you do.
