The lights in hotel bathrooms had a dreadful tendency to cast a deathlike pallor across the face, and this one was no different; he momentarily broke character to remind himself he isn’t actually the colour of diluted mustard. One final splash of cold water, one final nod of encouragement, one last straightening of the tie, and he was ready. Through the gap in the door bled the din of the Santa Ana Swing, muffled and half-present, like a memory of a song from one’s childhood. To the elevator, then; the party had already begun.  

M.ono's searing 'Santa Ana Swing' is lifted from a new VA compilation, 'The Blaq Bunch Vol. 2', assembled by German label Blaq Numbers. Comprising 16 tracks, the release is available on cassette and digital from August 9th.

There are few artists capable of mixing balearic and deep-house universes, tinged with a touch of jazz. Cosmonection is one of them, and it is not for nothing that Mixmag defined him for his 2nd EP as « one of the fast-rising producers of the moment ».

In just 2 years, he has established himself as one of the spearheads of this new hyperactive French scene by releasing no less than 4 EPs, including two on Pont Neuf, in England on the Jimpster’s label, Delusions of Grandeur, or even in Australia on Beats Of No Nation.

Cosmonection is back in 2020 with Talamanca, a new 4-track EP as festive as it is melancholic. « I decided to work with a lot more organic materials to add more warmth to my sound » he says. « Carnaval » opens this new maxi, with catchy percussions supported by a progressive Rhodes lead. The EP’s eponymous title, « Talamanca » emphases his unconditional love for balearic house sounds, as aerial as they are groovy. « Bailar Contigo » appears as a track designed for piano house atmosphere, modernized by the specific Parisian producer’s touch. It is finally in collaboration with Tour-Maubourg that this EP closes with « La Selva », a deep-house ballad carried by vaporous layers and guitar riffs.
