My next guest on Yax Invites is Ollie Strong, a DJ based in Naarm (Melbourne).

Ollie Strong is the co-founder of the event series Static. Through Static he has been fortunate enough to play host to international artists such as Remco Beekwilder, Anetha, DJ Gigola and Janein. Outside of Static he has been invited to play for a multitude of events series and clubs across Naarm. Showcasing his style of new school groove riddled techno blended with old school bangers and new age trance techno hybrids.

The influence from artists such as Phara, D.Dan and Stef Mendesidis is very apparent in his 3 deck, 1.5 hour mix that showcases everything he loves about techno as of late. Starting off groovy and transcending into an emotional trancey state he aims to keep pushing this style in his djing and eventually production.

My next guest on Yax Invites is idalia.

Born and raised in New Orleans, the birthplace of jazz, swampy landscapes & a vibrant nightlife, which enabled her to be the artist she is today. Being constantly exposed to music since the very beginning, she was inspired immensely to dig deeply to discover different genres, including techno. 

With both brothers as musicians, Idalia tapped into her own creativity with collecting vinyl and finding her own path. Her performances are demanding while taking her crowd on a journey of hypnotic, hard dance techno with tasteful blends of different genres of techno, she can leave a dance floor constantly moving and enchanted.

This mix captures different soundscapes in the realm of techno and "I wanted to blend different styles & moods together which go hand in hand with the months leading up to my relocation in Detroit".

Whilst @daniwhy-lie may not be familiar to London audiences, it’s certainly not the case in the South West of England where she is rapidly building a name for herself.

A DJ and selector, Dani’s energy and onstage presence moves through a captivating mix of genres from underground bass-driven dance music to techno, house, breaks, psytrance, electro and more.

Raised in Bath but currently immersed in underground electronic music culture in Bristol and London, which has lead to residencies with Bristol's most inclusive and progressive brands. Dani prides herself on working with promoters that create parties that promote queer expression and sex positive safe havens that are constantly pushing the boundaries in electronic music and our culture.

Our DETECT this week comes courtesy of @Audioluxx. 

A love for the purest of techno was sparked through his initial discovery of artists including British Murder Boys and Female, and very quickly the influential Birmingham sound could be heard throughout Audiolux’s work. 

Since 2012, he has thrived in Barcelona’s musical underground, launching the record label @speaks_silence whilst sharing many a booth with artists from across the world.

Volume 03 of the Northern Groove Association Podcast comes from London based rising star PAIGE.

PAIGE made her entrance into the music industry co-running and curating event
and label, Night Service Records. Her approach to DJing draws influence from her dance-floor experiences and crossing club-focused genres frequently. Her energetic style often involves combining tribal infused tracks with groovier, harder techno sounds.

As well as recently curating a takeover on HÖR Berlin, following her debut late last year, she has also played regular shows on KINDRED radio, Rinse FM, Balamii, Munich based Radio 80k and Foundation Fm, as well as various other streams and events in clubs and venues including Fold, Tate Britain, Renate Berlin, Corsica Studios, Patterns, and Phonox.

We are thrilled to be welcoming PAIGE to make her debut for the Northern Groove Association at the DBA on 10/09/22 and based on this funky tribal infused mix, we can't wait to hear what she will unleash.

N.G.A Podcast: Volume 03 - PAIGE

We´re back with another podcast and this time we are graced by @darko-esser (Aka Tripeo) who we have already had the pleasure to enjoy during our first outdoor edition in LOFI Amsterdam. 

The Dutch dj, producer and promoter is a staple of the scene and has long been active on all fronts. His idea for this particular mix is telling a story through different voices than his own, using only tracks produced by artists from lgbtqia+ community. The mood is eclectic and diverse, as he switches through styles and intensity mirroring the uniqueness of their creators.

Hailing from Singapore, the London based DJ & Visual Artist @wvrmpool draws influence from the heavy metal, punk & psychedelic rock music that shaped his teenage years.

Having only made his DJ debut on the scene in 2021, Timothy is geared-up to make waves, with the support from his @tussle-ldn crew and residency on @aajaradio .

His sound is an amalgamation of driving basslines, primal rhythms and textured vocals, seamlessly jumping between techno, trance, industrial and breakbeat. His mixes are an exploration of the connection between mind, body and music.

Stigma Tribale is a Spanish imprint that has featured national talent such as Cheff, Mario Tishok, Danza Macabra, JFernandez, and Pablo Suave.

The first two international artists on the label hail from Georgia, and they bring a glimpse of their raw, minimal sound, shaping an EP that is as danceable as it is introspective. The pair list appearances on labels like Diffuse Reality, Solemne, and Rebel Union.

For this DT:Premiere we selected "Mystic Soul" with a mechanical and purist groove of raw analogue flutters and thundering percussion. Tense and dance floor orientated, the abstract sound design creates a mesmerising, dystopian, and cinematic vibe.
