Native American peoples attach several meanings to the appearance of an owl, but owls are generally seen as messengers from the spirit world to humans. Among the Hopi people, owls represent a warning about sorcery. For the Ojibwe people, owls always warn of evil and death.

We’ve known him for quite some time now, both from bringing him to Belfast to play and also just seeing him in various places over the years. You’ll not meet nicer guy (or better DJ) than Big Pat!

As expected, this mix is straight in, no kissing. Best played nice and loud.

For this month’s DETECT we are delighted to welcome @sybersymon.

A key player in the advancement of the ‘free party’ culture that ignited in the UK in the tail end of the century, over the past three decades his constant support and efforts have helped drive London’s underground music forward as a whole. 

Whether it was sonically through the exploration of his vast array of records - spinning to the fast-growing, vast crowds that flocked to disused warehouses across the capital in the late 90’s - or in the organisation of the events as a whole, Symon’s impact cannot be understated and is still very much felt today.

It was also there where his journey began with the Stay Up Forever crew, a relationship that is as evergreen today, recently releasing his latest EP ‘Virus’ on their label as well as playing on the lineup of their 30th Anniversary event at FOLD this past March. Additionally to themselves he has had several releases on top labels including Hydraulix, 99.9 and Ripe Analogue Waveforms (RAW). 

A familiar, welcoming sight in our halls and often sighted at an UNFOLD, he brings his unique blend of upfront techno, acid and anything in between to our DETECT series. This can be heard now, via our FOLD SoundCloud.

D.A.V.E. The Drummer is a Techno DJ and producer from the UK. He's been making Electronic music since 1993 and has made dowzens of Acid Techno and Hard Techno records throughout his career.

He owns 3 record labels:
- Hydraulix Records, which concentrates on Dark & Hard Techno.
- Apex Recordings, for deeper Techno & Tech House.
- Mutate To Survive, for Minimal, Electro, weird Tech beats.

D.A.V.E’s recent music reflects a shift toward a darker stripped back Techno sound and the label is still at the forefront of the Techno scene winning respect from many DJs and taking on board fresh young artists as well as releasing tracks by seasoned Hydraulix regulars.

Still a hard working DJ and Producer, D.A.V.E. The Drummer is responsible for remixes and productions for many great Techno labels including Stay Up Forever, Cluster Smitten, Routemaster, Pounding Grooves, Fine Audio, Eukatech, Noom, Reklusive, Naked Lunch, Phobiq, Elektrax, Resiliant, Refined Format, Techburst and of course Hydraulix, Apex Recordings and Mutate To Survive.
