Luxembourg’s Ogazón (of Nathalie Ogazón Faber) followed her studies to the Netherlands and fell deep down the rabbit hole of Amsterdam nightlife, Trouw she recounts as transformative. Enough so that she followed that thread starting in the mid 2010s as neophyte DJ before upping sticks for Berlin a few years later. There, her passion for digging and upbeat outlook landed her in Ryan Elliot’s sights, a partnership that’s taken B2B form on more than a few occasions and led to further work with fellow blue chipper Marcel Dettmann (she signed to his agency in 2023). These days Ogazón’s sound is spreading to the pace of its rapid tempo, and her schedule’s all the more punishing for it. Dekmantel, Awakenings, DGTL, Berghain, Robert Johnson, the list gets longer. Refusing trivial categorisations, her work pivots between groovy house and austere techno, bringing together various influences (the ambient inclinations of Sofia Coppola she also cites) and keeping her vision broad. For Bassiani Podcast 241 she errs on the side of techno, delivering a profound two-hour mix that marches unrepentantly forward, zipping from ascetic track to track and building an atmosphere thick with subtle detail. This is deep, utilitarian techno for unsettled times and Ogazón leads the way.

Plasma Disco was the alias my friend Alfred (aka Timpleton) and I used when we played and made music together. We got the name from one of our favorite tracks, Samuli Kemppi – Plasma Disco. This mix includes some of our demos as Plasma Disco, as well as unreleased music from Alfred’s unreleased album - Geology That I found on a lost hard drive as well as music we played during our era and tracks that I found later on that I want to play for Alfred.

This month’s DETECT comes from the Tbilisi-based duo @ottonian & Neon Warrior (@gocha-4).

Long-time residents at TES Club, their journey together began in the early hours of countless nights, tweaking systems, exchanging music, and exploring the deeper intent behind club culture.

While Neon Warrior’s sound is defined by minimalism, subtle pressure, and hypnotic repetition, Ottonian draws from the raw percussive traditions of Detroit and Chicago. Their shared project is less about perfect alignment and more about navigating friction: two distinct voices pushing each other forward. 

This mix is an excerpt from Ottonian & Neon Warrior’s extended set recorded live at TES Club’s birthday party on November 7, 2024 in Tbilisi.

Originally recorded as a test run for a performance at Halle am Berghain, this fifty minute mix shimmers with a fantastical sense of depth as though peering from the precipice into an endless, velvet void. Wild, tender and dramatic all at once, a combination of drums, modular hardware and electronic instruments breathe a paradoxical entity into existence, reflecting back the shifting face of nature's discordant beauty and menace through samples, ritualistic synth lines and pads.

Varying between lightness and weight in her footsteps, @beste-hira walks the road less taken, drifting into an internal world that is both submerged and self-reflective - suspended at moments like a snapshot capturing fragments of her own free-fall.

Championing a sound both entrancingly serene and deep-diving, Blazej Malinowski joins us for a two-hour journey across dubbed-out psychedelic folds and straightforward cinematic crescendos he holds the secret to. Through a string of hypnotic releases for the likes of Semantica, The Gods Planet, Kvalia and his own imprint, Inner Tension, the Polish DJ and producer has been minting a sound signature both impeccably fuel-efficient and immersive to the full. Seeking the meditative thrill of sensory entanglement through contrasting dynamic forces and melodic chiaroscuros, Malinowski treats us to a rivetingly evocative outpour of shape-shifting techno epics and sunken, reverb-drenched atmospherics spiraling in and out of focus. It’s back to the strange, mind-expanding world of Zenaari with an episode from Moroccan techno master Chami. Leaving his homeland for France was an epiphany, Lyon the place where his passion for beats kicked-off. Since then, he’s relocated to Berlin and become synonymous with a clean, rhythmic and mentally-focused sound played exclusively on vinyl. It’s raw and unforgiving techno primed for body and soul, Berlin to the letter and a constant dialogue with the city’s ever-changing zeitgeist. Foregrounding burgeoning talents through his and Olivia Mendez’s DIG Curated, playing as half of Face 2 Face with DJ peer OPH, and key figure in Berlin-based collective Minijob (whose calling is in organising underground raves in and around the city), Chami’s plate is more than full. But it’s passion for sound that drives him, visceral basslines his bread and butter. Breaking with the expected, there’s a further facet to his sound, one that occupies the focus of this next Zenaari number: jazz. Not quite as far as it might superficially seem, Chami’s feeling for rhythm and knack for progressively stacked up moods translates flawlessly, but if it helps there’s a few warped percussions to move things along. This is an expert fusion of his musical universe, a Podcast that probes the possibilities offered by the superimposition of these two sonic languages and develops something new in response. Two sides of a coin: Chami’s slamming beats and soothing jazz are a window onto the spectrum of his talents, 68 minutes of compelling sounds from a Berlin mainstay.

Zenaari Mix 020 - Chami

We first connected with Jonny, aka @0gmojo, through our debut VA vinyl release, and after years in the making, we’re finally excited to share a mix he has carefully curated for all of you. The Cologne-based DJ delivers a well-rounded mix inspired by a recently discovered gem, “Deadman” by Shackleton. It sets the mood for the opening, while the dub ambient mix on the flipside works as a closer, framing the entire piece.

The tape unfolds through deep electro cuts, progressive trance, psy, and techno, always spaced-out, atmospheric, strange, and profoundly deep. It drifts from shadowy territory into a brighter, more uplifting mood, guiding you along its path with intention and detail.࿐ྂ

@mamasnake has long been an artist we hold in the highest regard, and we throughly awaited a moment worthy of her presence in Prague. That moment arrived during our October gathering at Ankali alongside Transmissions crew. 

Taking over the main room after a live performance, Mama Snake delivered an electrifying journey through high-energy techno and razor-sharp trance that sent the entire dance-floor, including us, completely over the edge. A masterclass in control and selection from the first track, proving who’s the queen of the dance floor.
