The Gift Of Knowing: A Boohaabian Mixtape

Earlier this year I discovered this cassette, "Rev 105 Lives Vol. 1" in an old shoebox full of tapes. I popped it into my ancient boombox and hit play. 1995 came blasting out of the speakers. Music. DJs. Production elements. Passion. Joy. Revolution. It was all there, everything that made Rev great.

There’s a live Wilco performance of Box Full of Letters. You hear Kevin Cole, Shawn Stewart, Brian Oake, Shelley Miller, Thorn, Word Guy, Mary Lucia, Kyle Smith, Christine, Peter Jesperson, Mike Wolf, and Brad Savage. There are songs that helped define the sound of the station. There’s even the tiniest snippet of Dr. Sphincter. If you were a fan, it’s really a great listen.

These highlights were compiled by a Rev super fan (identified as TG in the cassette) after the station went off the air on March 11, 1997.
