With previous releases on Delusions of Grandeur, Voyeurythm and more, UK producer Ben Sun delivers a gorgeous blend of deep textures that hearken back to the golden era of NY and Chicago with his Distant Messenger EP on Razor-N-Tape. On the A-side, Transmission has all the vibey goodness of an early Strictly Rhythm record, while Sable Sun scuba dives into Larry Heard territory with lush pad swells and squelching acid lines.

On the flip, the emotive motion of Tremors builds through hypnotic arpeggiated synths, a slow-rolling bassline and crystalline melodies, and the record finishes in proto-house territory with the Peech Boys era Larry Levan-inspired Red Light. This EP may wear its influences on its sleeve, but it looks (and sounds) classy as hell.

"Switzerland-born, Berlin-based DJ and producer David Keno’s career spans over a decade with releases on Relief, Toolroom, and his own Keno Records as well as collaborating and remixing for influential imprints like Get Physical, Poker Flat Recordings and Snatch! to name a few.

‘Revolve’ sets the tone of the package utilising a thumping bass groove, a thundering kick and deep vocal cuts before crisp hats and a warm low end are conveyed in ‘Pick It Up’. Rounding things off, Amsterdam based duo ANOTR offer up their take on ‘Revolve’, contrasting the original with cosmic pad swells, hypnotic synth stabs and a vacillating sub, bringing the EP to a close."

With the loopy disco house anthem 'Tell Ya Something' Mak & Pasteman deliver their final production before taking time to focus on solo material. The track lands on Food Music and is paired with a high energy remix from Junior Sanchez, a ballad that Mixmag has the pleasure of sharing first. 

Highlighting the shimmering disco sample, Sanchez beefs up the percussion with a jacking house riff, making his version primed for pthe rowdiest moments on the dancefloor. As we wave goodbye to the UK duo Mak & Pasteman, we look out for their solo outings to continue delivering quality material and hope they link back up again soon.

The 'Tell Ya Something'  EP is set for release January 25.
